View Full Version : weird SMART readings on new hard drive

My old hard drive went out of commission last sunday. It didn't fail completely, but large areas of it were damaged and now it's not safe to use it.

I bought a new Seagate hard drive. It's been almost two days since I installed it. But now when I use HDTune, the SMART readings say that the High Fly Write count is now 13.

Wikipedia says that High Fly Write is a protection feature designed to avoid writing when the read/write head is outside its normal operating range.

Anyway, chkdsk nor any other error detection tool detects any other problems, and the Reallocation Event Count is 0. Should I worry about this?
