How do you get the crew to fire their AA gun

How do you get the crew to fire their AA gun - I actually got attacked by two planes yesterday - I had the AA guns manned but the guy just stood there so I had to take the guns myself

Is there any way to get the AA gunner to actually fire when he's manning the guns - in SH3 you could set the guy to react when the planes where further away or getting close or attacking - is there any way this ability could be ported to SH5

TDW UI allow giving such commands...

You have to spot them using your binoculars and hit spacebar to order them to fire at the target you're looking at, they have to be within a certain distance from your sub too.

Using DW's UI mod its simple... you can choose to have them fire at will and select short, mid, or long range for them to start shooting. Also what type of aircraft you want them to target... I choose for them to shoot at anything. :DL

A] can you fire AA at surface targets?
B] can the game be configured so AA automatically engages approaching threats? perhaps determined by those threats entering/attacking from within a certain radius??

Yes, man the guns and fire at whatever the hell u want too shoot at... B) Yes but you'll need to install mods which addresses this. :DL
