View Full Version : If SH5 was a TV Show

Brag

Right now, Saturday 19:30 GMT peak hours for viwsiting a forum. There are 151 people i9n the freshly released, much balihooed SHV forum.

Meanwhile there are 134 in the combined, obsolete SH3 and SH4 Forums.

This indicates a total sales fiasco for Ubi's always online production.

If SH5 was subject to Nielsen ratings It would already be in the trash can of history. Too bad, as the graphics seem gorgeous.

No, this only indicates interest levels of the Subsim.com membership which surprisingly is still somewhat less then the world population.

Don't get me wrong I hate DRM (but can live with it) and the game is boring and I have not started it in 2 months at least, but your still making a huge leap there.

blah blah blah

You truly have nothing positive to say and nothing more to do than troll the SH5 forums, do you?

We get that you hate this game and hate Ubisoft. You don't have to keep proving it. Go back to your SH3 forums and talk about us (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showpost.php?p=1377640&postcount=10) there without constantly spamming this forum with your hate (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showpost.php?p=1396723&postcount=1) please. It's been three months now, stop it.

The worst thing is that he devotes so much of his time posting this kind of trash in a forum for a game he doesn't own or intend on owning. He spends all this time bashing SH5 and how trash it is, but yet devotes so many posts to it. Pathetic.

In short, p*** off.

I don't think it has anything to do with SH5 or DRM at all.

If you look closely at Alexey aka Brag you will note he is a starving writer.... Which in itself is fine, but look even harder and you will see his blatant spamming of his book through his signature in each post.

SH5/DRM has been a publicity tool for this poor or broke chap, unfortunately I don't think his sales have gone up. :nope:

His book is a very good read and well worth a peruse if you like that particular past time.

I did find the rights management obtrusive though - I had to have the book in my hand in order to read it. What if all books were like that? I travel a lot and if all books were like that, I'd have a bag full of heavy books and no room for anything else!

I was also unable to read the book at night, unless I had a constant light source with me, as the book was not self illuminating. There was no warning about having to have a light source in order to read the book, but luckily I have a fairly reliable electricity supply where I live (some of my friends do not though) so this isn't a problem for me. It's a good job I don't go camping, as the cost of torch batteries in order to use this entertainment product would be very high. Once I tried reading the book on the train, but when it went through a tunnel, I lost the light and was unable to use the book for almost a whole minute until the train emerged from the other end.

I read in another post that they had illumintaed books made by monks in ye olden times, so if they could do that hundreds of years ago, why can't they now? Ye olden times monks knew how to treat their customers!

I typoed that - meant 'Illuminated'. Speaking of typographical errors, the monks who did the original illuminations had a tough time of it. When the monasteries were established, they made money by selling copies of their charter, partly in the hope to 'educate' the masses and partly in an attempt to fund the monastery. They soon realised that instead of having one monk copy out the whole charter, they could produce more copies and sell more if they had multiple monks copying different pages. They further realised that if instead of selling the first copy they made, they made the copy into a template, they could get a second team of monks copying that template and double their output. To stop any of the templates getting too worn, a rule was passed that once a template had been copied, it should be sold on and the new copy be used as a template for the next copy, with the original placed in the archives for safe keeping.

This was a huge success financially and not only kept the monks occupied, it also provided a steady income for them and was the staple economy of the monastery for over two hundred years. One day, a monk who had been copying templates for many years asked the abbot if he could see the original charter of the monks, so that he might see if style of the document had changed over the many years it had been copied from copies. He was granted permission and went down to the library to look through the archives.

After two days, the monk had not yet come back up from the library and the abbot went down to check on him. He descended the stairs and with candle in hand approached a figure hunched over a desk, weeping. With tears in his eyes, the monk turned to face the abbot and said 'It says CELEBRATE!'.

It was the only reference I could get to 'losing the wireless signal when going through a tunnel' I could think of. I just threw it in for a bit of a laugh - the very idea that *I* should travel on public transport :shucks:.

Nup, not backlit. Apparently they don't need to be (http://www.eink.com/technology/index.html). iPads are, which ironically seems to make them worse than Kindles for reading books.

You won't regret it. You'll see some of the greatest quotes of all moviedom, including

"Mostly dead or all dead?"

"So, to the death, then?" "No, to the pain."

"As you wish."

"I'm with the Brute Squad." "You are the Brute Squad!"

"Will it work?" "It'd be a miracle."

"I know a secret you don't: I'm not left-handed."

And of course Mandy Patinkin's "My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die."

All fairly dry, meaninless comments...until you see them in context. One of everybody's favorite films.

I think the whole statement in the initial post was based on trolling and therefore dismissable as a valid argument , it was simply there to stir up trouble in this forum again, this was admitted to later on by the OP.

tonshck's HUGE PNG SCREENSHOT was just as daft evidence as the OP's initial statement, and some might say - just as valid:doh:

Oh I'm not so sure "all" are like that ...I'm aware of quite a few people who were heavily involved from the "previous show" who do not "bash the new show" but give much of their current spare time to work on and attempt to improve the playability of the "new show".

A quick look in the SH5 mods section should show you a distinct shortage of "self important drama queens", rather a wide and diverse section of the modding community here intent on doing their utmost for everyone here.

In fairness though, your initial statement "i dont know about the game" is probably more accurate or should I have said....much better than attaching a blanket label to large sections of this community.

If SHV was a tv show it would be like some hyped U.S Drama, with a star studed cast and cinematic special effects...
But with sloppy script writing and character development, it would get axed by the network after 1 season due to poor ratings, though a small hard core following would continue to produce fan made ephisodes and air them on youtube.

or something

of course there are many great folks here. the ones it applies to know who they are obviously. im afraid its time to move on now. as for not knowing about the game, i own it, play it, and mod it. that is far more than most of the whiners on here can say, but they know better right? way to spin it though.
