New Download
Complete LWAMI 3.10 Installer (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/downloads.php?do=file&id=2980)now available.
Patches included.
-------------------------------------------
Older content:
Available for download at FileFront (http://www.filefront.com/16698073/LWAMI%20310.zip) and Subsim (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/downloads.php?do=file&id=1883).
UPDATE 1: We've found a crash in the original release. Downloads linked from this point forward (1030 hrs Central US/ 1630 hrs GMT, June 1) have a patch already implemented. For those of you who downloaded before then, here is a patch (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/downloads.php?do=file&id=1885) for your versions.
UPDATE 2: Caymanlee found an error in the 3D graphics installation. Manual fix is described here (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showpost.php?p=1415394&postcount=40). Patch (above) now includes the fix for this as well. Filefront download updated with correct installation package.
I apologize for not having a self-extracting installer. Instructions are included for how to install it manually. Just a little bit of copying, really.
3.10 does require 3.09 to be installed. You can get 3.09 here (http://www.commanders-academy.com/forum/downloads.php?do=file&id=125) if you don't already have it.
I've thrown in a bunch of goodies for you too: a new, complete LWAMI manual replaces the old legacy readme and some reference tables are included to make your lives easier.

Installing now, thanks a lot for your work.
Guys,
The More I read the 3.10 Installation Instructions the more confused I get.
I have the LwAmi 3.09 installer set up to install or remove LwAmi 3.09.
Right now I have all the mods removed with the installer.and have a stock
DW 1.04.
Question? Do I run the installer and add LwAmi 3.09 back into DW 1.04?
Does that what step 1 mean?
I did complet the optional Step 2 and back up my stock DW Folders.:)
I did download the LwAmi ver 3.10 zip file. into a folder and unzip it and see
the LWAMI 3.10 Folder with the Manual and Mods folders with the installation Inst. Is this were I made my first mistake?
Thanks for some help. before I screw things up.

LWAMI 3.09 should be installed.
It should not matter if LWAMI 3.09 is enabled or not in the JSGME, but feel free to disable it anyways.
Go in to the mods folder and install 3.10 as per the instructions (Copy the USNI files and run the bats, delete the unneeded files) then enable LWAMI with JSGME.
That should be it.
I installed as directed, but when it comes up i ski[p the intro movie and then get all of the subs, the ffg and h60 all on top of each other and the main menu flashing around that. not seeing missions menu or anything. i can pick a mission by clicking the mouse in the area when it supposed to be but cant choose platforms. when i start the mission i randomly clicked on it interfacee there is porked as well. with the main map being in the smll box and the unit in the big one. secondly there are no boxes in the bottom to pick stations with or anything else for that matter.
i deleted it again and will try for a third time, but will run the stock game first to see if theres issues with it there.
any ideas would be appreciated

OK guys, TLAM has found a crash in the USNI and I've implemented a fix.
The Filefront download from 1030 central (1630 GMT) June 1 has the fix already implemented. We'll have a fixed SubSim link soon too. Any downloads from that point forward already include the fix.
If you've downloaded the mod before that point, use this patch (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/downloads.php?do=file&id=1885) to correct the crash.
Keep us posted on any other problems.
Thanks!

Some diesel Subs have parameter "Torpedo Range" = 0.
It does their similar SSN submarines - a unlimited distance.
And never snorkeling.
To DW sim Players,
I have given up on the LWAMI ver 3.10 install:cry: I got down to step 5
and clicked on the "zGraphicsinstaller.bat I get a Microsolf Visual C++
Debug Box. Which reads Debug Assertion Failure? I am running XPSP3 Pro.
the other ZUSNIinstaller works fine? So I guess I am dead in the water.
I think I made a big mistake and remover my MS Visual C++Redistributable
ver 8.0.59193 and try to run the bats no Luck. and installed another ver Visual C++. That didn't Work. then I had more problems I lost my AVG Ver
9 Icon. and had to reinstall AVG 9.0. worked on this problem approx 4 hrs
last night. I have my AVG 9 working and my icon back. but the Graphics
.Bat wont run.
Hope you have better day.

The only subs that have the torpedo range field filled out in stock DW are the playable kilos. All the other SSKs it's left blank. We haven't changed that, although few non-playable SSKs might have the Kilo's value in that field. As far as I'm aware, snorkeling is controlled by the SubDef doctrine.

Guys,
I think I have 3.10 installed with the help of Molon Labe. "thanks"
Now can I ask a few Questions :hmmm:
Right now I have all mods that came with 3.09 JSGME and 3.10 disabled.
What order should I enable the mods? does 3.09 be installed first?
then 3.10?
Will there a splash screen that shows 3.10 has been installed? I see a screen that shows 3.09.
Right now when I install 3.10 by it self. the screen just shows ver 1.4?
guess I need to read and try to find out about what ( APAD) is.
I am just confused on the order I can use the JSGME:hmmm:
Thanks for any help.

3.10 will overwrite 3.09 when installed, unless you backed up 3.09 somewhere else. So the only thing you need to enable is "LwAmi_Mod," so there is no order since there is just one. As before, splash screens, fonts, and optics remain optional. And yes, 3.09 has to be installed first, if you installed 3.10 without 3.09 there could be problems. Or maybe not, since you've got the graphics package separately, which includes the 3.09 graphics. Installing 3.09 after 3.10 will revert the database and doctrines, so definitely don't do that!
Will there a splash screen that shows 3.10 has been installed? I see a screen that shows 3.09.
No. No new splash screens have been included. Maybe if we get a proper installer....
Right now when I install 3.10 by it self. the screen just shows ver 1.4?
If you haven't enabled a modified splash screen, then the stock splash screen remains and will be loaded at startup.
guess I need to read and try to find out about what ( APAD) is.

3.10 includes the USNI database update that was released after 3.09. So all you need to use 3.10 is 3.09 itself.
It really shouldn't be as clear as mud... the instructions say you need 3.09. The instructions do not say you need the USNI update.

God, shut up man. ML was to polite to say it, but it had to be said. This thread is about LWAMI 3.10. RA/DWX has its own thread and Castout posted a nice release thread to let everyone know.
And I don't really know what you are going on about with this 3.09 bugs + 3.10 bugs thing. As far as I'm concerned, LWAMI 3.09 has far fewer bugs than stock DW, DWX or Alfa Tau and from my experiences so far, 3.10 seems to be pretty bug-free too.
Excellent... downloading and will give this a try.

"AI Jouf FAC" in database 3D model name should be "aljouf.j3d" instead of "al_jouf.j3d"
Why do you say that? I just checked the installer and only al_jouf.j3d is listed in the installer.bat, so the older aljouf.j3d file should never even get compressed into the 3d archive. Are you having any errors with the model if it's left unchanged?

Okay, I downloaded the mod and checked the installer file, and for some reason back when I edited the installer.bat before release I didn't get the new version into the mod package. Sorry. I've re-uploaded the patch with a fix.
Quick fix without needing patch: disable mod, open the mod .zip and unzip al_jouf.j3d, cmputil.exe, and zgraphicsinstaller.bat into C://...mods/lwami_mod; edit zgraphicsinstaller so that the only line is "cmputil 3d al_jouf.j3d", save and run the .bat, and then copy 3d.grp and 3d.ndx to C://...mods/LWAMI_mod_APAD.
I'll update this post when the main download packages are updated.
Since installing 3.10 my helos no longer dip sonar when stationary. I've waited up to 15 minutes.

I finally adjusted nuclear subs PSL levels in LWAMI 3.10 according to my best knowledge and data:
- US: LA 62, Ohio 57, LA Imp 58, Seawolf 55, Virginia 55
- UK: Switfsure 63, Trafalgar 59, Astute 56
- Russia: Victor III 67, Typhoon 65, Victor III Imp 63, Mike 64, Akula I 62, Delta IV 62, Oscar II 62, Akula I Imp 59, Akula II 58, Graney 57, Borey 59
- China: Type 093 Shang 66
Now I think they are quite correct.
Hmm, where exactly do you get those numbers man? Don't you think the modders (LWAMI or DWX) do their research? I really have no idea what you are basing your PSLs on, other than wikipedia and pure speculation.
Gorshkov
07-06-10, 09:43 AM
I don't know where they did their research but I do not base my estimates on what Russkie old-farts from Makakhit and Rubin Design Bureaus twaddled about rusted Graney and Borey subs being equal or even more quiet than Seawolf. In fact I would be more trustful to specialists from Toshiba on that issue.
Anyway here you are an indirect answer: Seawolf's PSL=55, Graney's PSL=55 (taken from LWAMI 3.10 platform reference guide). :rotfl2:
Reality is another story: US simply achieved another qualitative breakthrough in submarine's noise reduction over Los Angeles class SSNs having developed Seawolf program 15-20 years ago. The widely known fact is that in those days US were ten years ahead of the best Russkies had thanks to Seawolf's technology which means they regained lead in submarine warfare again as in the 1970s. As one can note at that time Russkies had on hand: Akula I Imp/Akula II SSNs introduced into service and Graney/Borey programs already launched. Of course in the last 20 years Russian naval R&D base effectively collapsed so only very naive people can think Russkies were able to catch-up Seawolf's technology level. In the meantime US developed next SSN project called NSSN which materialized as Virginia-class. What is known Virgina SSN is at least as quiet as Seawolf being in some ways more advanced design - so US were still making progress in this area. On the other hand Russkies after 15 years of silence showed their "brand-new" submarines which are essentially examples of late 1980s to early 1990s technology. In sum Russia is now 10-30 years behind the US and that is all story.
Translating all that into DW/LWAMI universe: If we assume Seawolf's PSL=55 as a baseline so generational step ahead over 688I's PSL = 58 is 3 points. Yet Russian Akula Imp and Akula II are believed to be more on less on par with 688I noise level and that is why I granted them with PSL equals to 59 and 58 respectively. Later I assumed that Graney SSN is founded on improved Akula II technology being slightly quieter but not generation ahead as new American nuclear subs due to all above obvious facts from reality. Thus Graney's PSL value should equal 57 being "two PSL points louder" than Seawolf's PSL or 2/3 generation behind it. Similar considerations leads to conclusion that Borey-class SSBN should have PSL about 58-60 being still more noisy than 30 years old Ohio-class SSBN (maybe after some stealth upgrades) but better than late 1980s Delta IV SSBN.
Molon Labe
07-06-10, 12:54 PM
As you already mentioned, the data is the platform reference chart is off, we have the Graney at 56. So you're making a huge fuss over a 1-point difference from our estimation to yours. Got a lot of time on your hands?

After reading through the treads regarding the mods available, I am still at a loss what they will do. How they differ from on and the other? What will they change? How will they change the gameplay and a decent install instructions!!!
Preferably that should be stated in the first post of the thread, not on page 3 og 6 or a link to another thread!

I've finally installed your mod and it's awesome!
There are several posts about the mod, so I will try to put each thing on its place.
I have a CTD in the USNI reference when selecting the Swiftsure.
Also in the USNI reference, Chile appears as CHLIE.
Messing up a bit with the DWedit I saw that the Shang class has the same propulsion as the Han... I have no references or bibliography to back this but, shouldn't it be quieter than the Han? I see that it's passive signature is lower (so reactor noise improvements, I suppose), but really they have not improved the propulsion?
One last thing: cycling on the 3D view of the DWedit I had various "bitmap missing" on some platforms. I don't remember which ones, but is not hard to discover. Later I will post them.
Thank you for the mod!

I think we use the same thrust for all the low end SSNs. All it really does is make them noiser at higher speeds than higher quality ships.

Sorry for the delay.
I've looked again at the 3D view in DWedit, the platforms that show the missing .bmp are: ElBrus, Koni, Sailboat, Sailboat2 and Yatch... but the queer thing is that this doesn't happen always! After the error, DWedit crashes, if I open it again and go directly to one of this platforms, all textures are in place :o
So... who knows, maybe is a DWedit issue.

Anyways, no, we didn't change EMCON (and boy would I want to if I could!). Just for the hell of it I did a test to make absolutely sure and got no surprises. Something to keep in mind is that ships will turn on their radars if events occur to prompt it to, such as detecting a missile that needs to be shot down.

Recently DL'd 3.10 and - after going through the instructions very slowly and carefully - got it running smoothly. Just one snag, though; DW CTDs when trying to view the Swiftsure in the USNI Database. Otherwise, fantastic work. Love the new Kilo, Delta, etc. textures, and all the new models, especially the Virginias! All we need now are VLS door textures for the 688i, and a completely new model to replace the rather ugly default Akula.
Really, you modders are to be commended on the work that you do for this sim. It is because what the modders make available is the reason why I reinstalled DW in the first place.
Bravo!

We do have a new akula on the way (see the preview thread), but we're going to give up animated doors to do it.
Thanks for the feedback about the Swiftsure (FdB too!). Someday I'm going to have to go through these threads and find all of those little glitches so I can fix them. In this case, it's crashing because it's expecting to load a .jpg that I neglected to include in the final package.
If you (or anyone else who feels comfortable with software tinkering) wants to quick-fix the Swiftsure, there are two ways. The easiest is to find and open UK_TOC.txt in Graphics and find the Swiftsure entry. Change "swiftsure.jpg" to "nophoto.jpg." Then edit the file zUSNIInstaller to have only one line "cmputil usnidata UK_TOC.txt." Then run zUSNI...
The other method is to find a picture of the Swiftsure to your liking, download it, scale it to fit nicely on DW's USNI screen, rename it "Swiftsure.jpg", place it in Graphics, edit zUSNIInstaller to have this line only "cmputil usnidata Swiftsure.jpg," and run zUSNI.

You face to a problem by change of a code.
If you want that the doors opened - you will be compelled to change EXE a code and others DLL.
As however and other awful mistakes in gameplay.
I abruptly laugh before SCS by the programmers - code of game - the nursery of the bug.
I never would recommend, to reserve products of this company.

Well, if the list of countries in the USNI reference is massively larger than you're used to seeing it, then I'd say you probably have it installed. :)
There's a ton of new platforms to check for in the USNI or mission editor... chosing one at random... the Ghadir midget sub (Iran).

Thanks to OneShot, we now have a normal installer for 3.10. "The Dance," as they say in the Falcon community, is over.

Looks like I incorrectly linked the FTP upload for the full installer, and people ended up needing the FTP password to download. I've corrected the link, so you should be able to download without a password now.

Hi Keltos,
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/downloads.php?do=file&id=2980
This is the new download, you only need the 1.4 patch and then you can use this one straigt away.
About that yellow round thing, it indeed is an unidentified object. Atm i dont know what is the BBQ-10 PBB but if its a (broad band) passive sonar the range is fiction. After you move around, change course you will get more info.

It looks pretty sweet. I'll have to check out that game. So far all I've played is SH 5 and a few other earlier versions and add-on's. Are there other games similar to S H that I should check out? I'm just looking for different games right now...

It seems that Russian Elbrus ASR surface class is missing in USNI: no way to find it by ALT+I or browsing naval unit directly in USNI. :06:
Hope this will be fixed soon or at least in next version of LWAMI. :03:
Thanks!:salute:

It'll be there.
Don't be afraid to use the sonar profiles table if you need TPK data. Not every platform we add is going to get a USNI entry, but every ship and sub will be on the sonar profiles table (hopefully).

I just noticed today that the narco sub was missing from the platform reference, but it's in the sonar profile list or maybe visa versa :hmmm:

The "narco sub" is actually a surface ship (Self-Propelled Semi-Submersible). It's listed in the USNI, Platform Reference Guide, and the Sonar Profiles table.
For the next update, there will be a true submarine (http://covertshores.blogspot.com/2010/06/narco-submarines-torpedoes-and-semi.html) for smuggling (Cartegena), but 3.10 only has the semi-submersibles.

Right, my fault: unit present on sonar profiles table called EL'BRUS.
Thanks

None of the new models are showing up for me. I have patch 1.04 installed as well as the 3.10 mod too. But none of the models are visible. Do I need any of the other LWAMI mods??

I activated LWAMI with the JSGME Tool, but what about the other files in the mods folder? Kegetys_Fonts, Kilo_Optics_Mod, and others ...what are those about?

From ze manual...
Extras
The LWAMI package includes Kegetys’ Fonts, Hitman’s Kilo Optics package, and the Alrosa-Playable Alternaive Database (APAD). These can be enabled and removed with the Mod Enabler just as the LWAMI mod itself.
Kegetys’ Fonts replace the fonts in 1024x768 resolution and higher. The main benefits are a faster rendering speed and smaller size (so more fits on the screen, for example, in the History Window).
Hitman’s Kilo Optics package replaces the reticules on the periscope and binoculars (sail bridge). Both are intended to be used to more easily judge range to air targets, and the periscope reticule is based on the reticule used by the real Kilo. For more information, see Hitman’s readme.
LWAMI 3.10-APAD replaces the Russian Project 877 Kilo with the Alrosa, a unique pumpjet-equipped Kilo in the Black Sea Fleet. The regular Project 877 class is an AI class in this database. This database will not be compatible with missions designed for playable Project 877s, so it is strongly recommended that this database only be used for missions designed for a playable Alrosa or on generic dueling-type mission where no specific submarine classes are present.

OK, thanks for the info. Yeah I didn't read the manual.
