Just dreaming about the mixture of TheDarkWraith's UI mixed with Reaper 7's AOB Periscopes, illuminated graticules and such, am trying to make it happen myself by mixing and matching, 1 way to learn.
Just a thought to improve even more this enjoyable Sim. Thanx

I don't want to discourage you, because this is a very interesting endeavor you are on, but I don't know if it is possible. The scripting for both is very different, so you would have to be extremely careful.

Welcome to Subsim matey:salute:

If I were you I'd PM both the modders and ask them if these two mods are compatable. It might save you a lot of heartache in the long run:up:

Possible but extremly difficult. While DW has done things the gracefull way and scripted every change and addon. I not being scripting inclined have butchered it via the Menu Editor :D deleting items, shoving them ofscreen and re-editing them to suit my needs.
You would need a good Text compare editor to load up my pages, the Stock pages and DW pages to compare and merge - a lot of work.

But first you may need to ask for permission from DW as he is copyprotecting his work. (Well he did put an awful amout of work into his scripts :yep:).
You have my permission to use mine.
Best of luck if you do start.

Rather than the compare and merge, I think it would be easier to identify the individual graphics and features of your mod and how they are replicated in his.

Both mods do the same thing basically. You've got dials in X location, he's got dials in Y location. It should be possible to simply change the files for his graphics to point to yours. The trick would be with positioning, which is cake and functionality, which via scripting should also be cake.

TDW has finally managed to integrate the various TDC modes into his mod, and that's just the first step towards integrating basically anything into the mod I'm sure. :DL

I don't think we can Copy protect anything in any meaningful way.
Read the End user License.

If I create a new 3D model?
It's owned by Ubi if I place it in Game.
Besides,
ANY Modding is not allowed by the EUL.

For one that fought against permissions to now demand Copy protection?
:hmmm:

ah but see code is a different thing! If I write a complete new .py file that wasn't in the game then it's my own intellectual work and no one else's ;) Ubi doesn't own it, nobody owns it but myself :yep:

I'm not trying to dis you Mate.
It just makes me wonder a bit.
Codeing is actually no different from doing new 3D content.
If one uses a model from SH5 and mods it?
Yes, Ubi owns it as it is a derived work.

Should I, or anyone else create from scratch a 3D model?
That is, by most Laws, protected also.

Again we traverse stupid areas.
Only because some Company demands ransoms.

I'm not disagreeing with you on the new 3D content. It's all in how one wants to handle it. I choose to handle it in a protective manner due to the hundreds of hours and unique ideas/solutions I have come up with for the game :yep: People can say what they want but it's still original content created by myself and thus can and will be protected.

I agree with you on this.
:)
Now I know this will start a new debate somewhere, somehow.
But it is time for that debate.

It's time to demand our dues.

I don't understand why you would even try to undertake this :06: If for learning then great  If you plan to release it then you should think twice about that. I don't give anyone permission to use any parts of the UIs mod in anything. Just thought I would make my point perfectly clear ;)

This is just a pipedream I am having, a sort of 'what if' scenario, but I do toy with things for strictly my own use, I appreciate the work of TheDarkWraith and Reaper7 to its full extent, and find everyones thoughts and opinions on the forum interesting.
