if you love the s-boats then you should like this mod i did for them, its an attempt at realism to make them as fragile and limited as they were in real life.
for skins i just dirtied them up and added some rust so you might want a different look but the mod should be very much to your liking
find it here: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=157608

Below 200. She can barely make 100-150 feet before you get squeezed like an egg.

well the 200 ft is for a boat in undamaged condition so yes if you get minor damage i wouldnt push passed 125-150 but thats pretty close to how it was in real life, diving below 150 ft was a very risky thing because of how old and worn out the boats were with rusty weakened hulls
you have to remember these boats were 20 yrs old at the time of the war and actually scheduled for scrap yrds but war meant they had to make due with whatever they had so a boat that many considered to be a certain death trap is still a boat that helps the war effort

Makes my wonder if there crews were ashamed to serve those Busted hulks or Proud of there hindered boats.
No doubt they were at least scared of them.
Im proud of the crazy things i accomplish in them.

websters s-boat mod if flippn hard lol
glad you like it :salute:
it puts the real life tactics the s-boats were forced to use into perspective because thats how easy they were to sink in real life so avoiding risk was almost if not as important in your method of attack as the need to sink the enemy.
in almost all cases, during ww2 these boats were certain death traps if you came under attack by any means and even something that wasnt close but just a depth charge anywhere near you could cause uncontrolable leaks
in researching for the mod i soon understood why they so often let oportunities to attack pass by unless conditions were just right, it was of prime importance to be sure any attack would allow escape without detection. if detected you rarely survived

That's so.... WOW.... I cant put it into words. The men on those boats faced a suicide mission choice every day out there. I've read that under normal conditions just keeping the boat running was a herculean task let alone formulating and carrying out an attack. Can you imagin what it was like?

I thought they were mostly painted black?:o
Wait;
I see an S-Boat and I want it painted black
No colors anymore, I want them to be black.
I see the Gato's all dressed up in wartime paint
I have to turn my head and my S-Boat it will not be quaint!
I see a line of submarines and they're all painted black
But My S-Boat has stripes, all sorts of colors painted on her back
I see other captains turn their TBT's and laugh at my boat
Like an era almost from the first world war at least I can gloat!
Cheers!!!
