This is the Cold War-Modern Warfare Mod or CWMWM. It covers the time period from the 70`s up into 2015-2020 period.

I don't think that will be a good idea. After all, SH4 does not have a suitable engine for modern missiles. The fire power will be reduced significantly.

I agree, this is what modding is all about ! I made a Fliggende torpedo mod which acts like a horizontally flying missile.

not perfect but close, it was meant for the Cold War mod so that they'd have missiles, maybe SH6 will have them ? ;)

Have you tried Silverwolf`s Shark and Kraken mod? They both contain deck guns that fires missiles. I have permission by Silverwolf to use his missiles in these ships.

What id like to see is some playable dreadnoughts!! :rock:

There are already several playable battleships. I have made the Queen Elizabeth and Revange class Battleships if you`r looking for WW1-era ships.

when i install the renown, using mod enabler the ship only has one gun at the stern all overs are there but invisible.

is there as certain mod that i need to sort this out

and also there is no bridge cam, deck gun cam, or radar or sonar

You will need SH4 1.5 with OM v 720 and no FOTRS, TMO or RFB.

You will need the U-boat expansion pack wich is version 1.5. You will also need Operation Monsoon version 720. I do believe it will work with any versions of OM.

i have asked this of alot of people but as of yet no one has even wanted to try and recreate a legendary ship, and also its a part on my countries past as it was the pride of the british navy

Go to the Library ad remove the Cameras.dat. This will also remove the feature to mave the camera through objects.

As for textures I use Paint.net to modify or make textures.

i still free roam around the ship, all i want is to be fixed to the center of the ship and rotate like the normal camera setup.

im used to it being like that, does my nut in when i cant just rotate lol

also this is my first time doing a texture how do i open the texture i want for a specific ship

You will need a program that can open a tga or dds file. As said before I use Paint.net, and I will reccomend that you get it.

I have no idea how to get a preview of the textures on the ship.

I have the Hood in-game and are preparing the refit.

As previous mentioned go to the Library folder and delete a file called cameras, that should fix your problem.

The Hood will require OM. Feel free to make any missions once it`s released.

Also, if you have any more on the hood please post in the thread for the Hood.

It`s a nice 3d model but I already have several Nimitz class 3d models. Some like this one comes with the part of the hull wich is under water.

Actually if you want playable carriers the Soviet acrriers such as the Kiev, Ulyanovsk and Admiral Kuznetsov will be perfect as they were/would be fitted with anti-ship missiles. Don`t have any playable or finished as of now.

Use Misfit Model 3D on .obj files and 3DS Max on .3ds files.

have you thought about how your doing the weapons on your carrier, you said earlier that you where having anti-ship missiles, is the that the main weapon.

and if so are you having anti-aircraft guns like the modern type in stead of having a carrier from our generation and having ww2 guns lol.

also this is a nice little info you might want to look at.

also how the hell do you use mm3d it's wierd, the camera is annoying and trying to find a template to model from is hard lol

A little hint. Don`t remove, make individual 3d models of parts not needed and add them in S3D. Parts such as elevators, propellers, rudders, planes and the island.

And remember always keep a backup of the original 3d model, just in case you screw up big time. Has happened to me a couple of times.

I have an off-topic question. What ship would be best to use as a base for the Alaska class, the Iowa, North Carolina, Baltimore or Cleveland?

i would say iowa because of her three main gun setup, but the ship looks more of a battle cruiser type so most likely any of that type mate

She`s not really a battlecruiser, she`s a large cruiser. Here`s the thing I like about the induvidual ships: The Iowa has the right type of bow. The Cleveland and Baltimore has the right type of stern while the North Carolina has a forward superstructure wich has some resemblence to the Alaska. What do you think?

My opinion as a starting point would be the NC. Remove the center funnel. There are two aircraft "launchers" at the stern that you could move to the center. I think that might give you a good start. I am not familiar with the Alaska, so I don't know how much of a size difference you need to deal with. It wouldn't take much reshaping to get the bow right.
Just my 2 cents.

As a matter of fact I found a solution to my proble. The answer did not lie in the Iowa, North Carolina, Baltimore or the Clevleland but in the Brooklyn. Just removed the bow replaced it with an identical copy, then made the bow longer. Now I have a bow wich more resembles the bow on the Bismarck. I`ll post pictures tomorrow.

If you have big problems with getting S3D to accept the Nimitz then you could send her to me, maybe I can help. My Ticonderoga class has between 200-300 000 vertices. I had to split her up in several pieces. Any information on how many vertices the Nimitz has?

I hope to find a way to force the dumb in-game AI to use it, when its not fully moveable so i can make it more static to look more "real". keltos, do you know a way to increase the speed of air-torpedoes. Not sure this helps but the ohio mod has missiles and they go very fast, maybe you could check those settings.

I consider those ships a little too old. It will also be hard to make. I may implement the Spanish and Swedish navies and possibly more navies.

Just from looking at the models it doesn't look like the RA3 ships have that much armourment... will you add more guns and such?

I will add some sort of AA guns. Anti ship guns/missiles are the primary weapons of the ships from RA3.

this question's been nagging me for a while now...

do you know why you have that blurry texture effect on all surfaces ? is it because the textures aren't yet done ? is it on purpose ? the decks etc look textured but the hull and superstructures do not. I do not mean to criticize your work which I find excellent, just that given this blurry texture the ship doesn't look real, more like plastic..

do you plan to remedy that or is this the finished product ?

I don`t know why it has a "plastic" look. Tried to use the textures I use on my WWII ships but they still have a plastic look.

There`s no torpedoes because it`s not the main weapon on the ship, the missiles in form of uncontrollable deck guns is the main weapon.

Open up the USA_Arleigh_Burke.sim file and open wpn_SubTorpedoSys and open rooms-fore-storage. Right click on storage and click on add array item, as many as you want. Open up USA_Arleigh_Burke.upc. Scroll down to the forward torpedo room compartement and find these lines.

Capacity=1
IDLinkAmmunitionIntervalDefault1= NULL, NULL, Mk14Torpedo, 1

Change number 1 to the number you chose in the .sim file.

If you make the De Zeven Provincien then why not make her sister ship? Sorry no sailing vessels for this game. I was wondering if you ment the 1935, 1944 or the 1974 De Ruyters. I do believe the 1935 De Ruyter has a special place in Dutch hearts.

Navy isn't really my thing, i dont like water at all thats why i became a commando still much water missions but not intensive naval warfare. the airforce is for pussy's hi in the sky with nukes. i'm a action man.

But yeah 1935 De ruyter is special, must say the one from 1974 is more a heavy cruiser.. but its still nice. We cant forget the best Admiral ever was Dutch :rock:

i prefer the version like it is now with the rokets and the deckgun speedup just like the ship thats sailing now

its much better and high technical but can you also modify the comando room and ara's like that?

This mod will be for 1.5. I don`t have 1.4.
If you try the Arleigh Burke test mod on my Game front page you can start outside Pearl Harbor witch is way outside the port, you should be able to detect every ship there. Planes are detected at even longer distances.

That may take some time. This is pretty close to a supermod and I`m working alone on this one. Therefore it will take time to make everything.

It`s the 1980`s refit of the Iowa. Almost finished with here. Still have to add missiles and find something else to change/modify/improve.

What you see here is the AN/SPY-49 air search radar (the big radar) and the AN/SPY-67 surface search radar (the smaller one.)
The Iowa is supposed to have the AN/SPQ-9 gun fire control radar, but I haven`t seen the antenna for that radar. It`s supposed to be a white dome like this:

If it's at all feasible, either a CG-21 or Arsenal Ship would be interesting as well - the first as playable, the second as the centre-piece of a task force, provided of course you can get the missiles working out nicely.

Speaking of that actually, I was wondering how feasible it also might be to turn the Fore and Aft AA emplacements on most of the ships into the forward necessary (port and starboard) missile batteries, keeping the Deck Gun slot with the forward gun, leaving AA defence to a fully automated AI-controlled battery like on the battleships, or the broadside batteries as in several of SilverWolf's old creations. Alternatively, leave things as is, and play around with torpedo tubes to launch vertically, and see how that goes, unless there's too many issues with that.

I am contemplating a what-if/never were/own design extension including ships such as the CG-21. If you look at the last post on the first page I have a cruiser, the Midway class that is "supposed" replace the CG-21, or it can be a more conventional CG-21. I have also made a destroyer, the Fletcher class that has 2X1 8"/50 guns and cruiser sized missile capability. I also have an extensive refit of the OHPs still in service and a new frigate to replace the ones that has been decommisioned. I don`t think I will include the Arsenal ship as it was to be built for carrying hundreds of Tomahawks for land attack.

There isn`t a way to launch the torpedoes verticly, but there is a way to make it look like they are launched verticly by using animations. This is why I aked Jhapprich for permission to use some of his "missiles." He kindly permitted me to use his "missiles" to witch I am very thankful of.

i played with the iowa for some time now and i run in to a few problems

when the ship is stationary the missiles wil fire verry good but when its moving the missiles get stuck in the ship and sink

and when there are enemy planes flying around the cwis wont engage them when there on fire at will

As I stated in the read me, you need to be in at least a 15 degree turn to fire them when moving. The ciws won`t fire thingy is new to me. When I play all four fires and brings the plane down rather quickly. I haven`t tested the 16 AA shells either, so I can`t tell how effective they are.

okay thanks i didnt read the readme so that works now and i fired the big guns up front but also there is someing with cuase the dont fire ant any ship but thats may du to the turning speed of the canon.

and the cwis may wont work cause i have version 1.4

Possibly. What other mods are you using? What do you mean they don`t fire at any ships? Do the guns shoot randomly in any direction? Or don`t they move at all?

For some reason it take takes a few seconds for the turrets to move, but they do move and fire. Are all of these mods activated at the same time? If so, it may cause trouble for the Iowa mod.

That`s because there are no periscopes. You have to use the TBD/UZO.

If I get the coating on the German subs to work in the American campaign I can change some numbers in the files so the coating reduces radar signature.

Depends on witch Independence you want, if youn mean the carrier then no. If you mean the LCS-2 then yes. Visby won`t be playable. Only American, British and Russian/Soviet ships will be playable.

Hey Karle94, Love your work, sounds like an interesting mod, I was hoping for a cold war naval game, I had Fleet Command for awhile, and there is a new game call Global conflict Blue 2 or GCB2 for short, anyway the designers of this game are trying to accomplish the same thing (Create a modern naval warfare sim) perhaps you could look into it. There is a new game engine out and they are modeling for GCB3, you can read more about them here http://www.gcblue.com/phpBB3/ From what I understand it's a lot like Fleet Command and you can use modern ships, planes, and missiles

Arleigh Burke works fine, but if i install second CWSS that will float somwhere over rocket launchers deck and your rocket storm is imprecisly for distances > 2 km (for a modern ship) and produces small damages, but damage problem can be solved in s3d with some patience
WWI and WWII ships are very good and submarines too, but i like a modern surface ship that's looks and works like a modern ship :)

That is why I have gone back to torpedo based missile. Really, small damage? When I test them they tear battleships enormous holes.

I have never seen any of my playable ships sink this way. They always sink on an even keel and not bow high.

The Burke is nearing completion. I will soon release her. She will come in two versions: One is the standard Flight IIA with standard weaponry. The other verison will be the Flight IIA with some extra stuff. Some of it are already being used such as the Oerlikon Millenium CIWS and the Bofors 57 mm. Others are in development and are as following: AN/SPY-3, OTO Melara 127/64 LW. The rest are fictional, these include 8"/50 long range gun, railgun and Phoenix CIWS.

Did I mention that these ships comes with full radar sets? In either case they do. The Burke has the AN/SPY-1D and AN/SPS-67 surface search radar. The Tico comes with AN/SPY-1A, AN/SPS-49 air search radar and AN/SPS-67 surface search radar.

That was it. I had down loaded the mod, extracted it to my mod folder. But never thought to look inside. Um, "duh".

So, found the ship, took her out for a spin (in easy mode), met up with a enemy convoy and wiped them from the face of the sea.

Nice mod. Very good job considering you can do so much in SH4. I'll be following this one for sure. To see how it matures.
