View Full Version : Overall after 1.2 patch, is a Supermod shaping?
I've noticed that after the 1.2 patch, there seems to be some general upswing in users who own and play the game. (I have not played SH5 yet, but ordered it today.)
I see people listing their combos of mods after 1.2 .
I see people commenting that they are getting much happier with certain combinations.
So, I wonder:
(1) Will RUB/RFB for SH5 start to take shape?
(2) Is anyone seeing a core list of mods that can be combined for a supermod that makes 90% of gamers happy?
(3) Is there anything else on the "unification" front happening?
Thanks all.
I can only speak from my own un-informed choices of mods, but they seem to work well for me:
Installed in this order
German Voices (Just the german voice files not the movie ones)
Capthelms SH5 Audio Mod
Enhanced Funnel Smoke by HanSolo78
Improved Waves, Pitch & Roll
Old Style Explosions V1.1
NewUI's_TDC_2_4_0_ByTheDarkWraith
NewUI's_TDC_2_4_0_MinimalDialsTDC
Conus' Graphic Mod 1.1
Torpedo Speed Ability Fix for TDC
Dooms Decks for VIIABC 1.3
Manual Targeting Training Missions
Thats pretty much all i have activated via JGSME atm. I've not noticed any issues with any of them so far. I was a little unsure as to whether i should apply Conus' Graphic Mod with TheDarkWraith's UI's but it seems to work ok :)
I am really looking forward to see what Luke has in store for us with the new RUB.

This is now fixed in 1.2, you don't need the mod anymore.

I don't have any knowledge of modding but I love what people are ready to do for others in all moddable games. It is a real joy to get a good game even better.
But I post this here since it is closest. Didn't want to start a new thread and I hope some modder picks this up if they see this worthy.
There is own submarines hanging around in the game. Sometime I had one following me and tried to torpedo it thinking it was the enemy. Luckily I missed. :D
But would it be possible for the friendly subs to signal you with a light like they did at the time and actually still do if other signaling devices are cut or they want to keep radio silence. Just couple of blinks now and then just to identify your own. The message doesnt even need to make any sense but would help recognising your own especially in bad weather. Because I also tried to engage British S-type sub west of Ireland but the bugger dived. (I was sure of the recognition on that one, was so close) :)

this keeps getting asked but the answer doesnt seam to get passed along to all
NO ... there wont be super mods released until they know the game is complete and UBI is done with patching it.
its way too much work to do super mods only to have the next patch make them unusable and you have to start over so what would be the point?
lukeFF has said he and his team is working on a RUB for sh5 but he wont be releasing anything, and shouldnt be expected to, on such a labor intensive thing until UBI has finished messing with the game so they can finally roll up their sleeves and dig deep into the game files to create something great.

That is not 100% true, there is a super mod (speaking for myself) in the works, patches are hardly changing much in regards to files anyways, no reason to sit tight and wait....

Supermods. Cant wait. :ping:
Those making one....Please note....
I want full realism... anything that makes the game as close to real as it can. Not that you didnt know this, but i gotta get my post count up. :O:
Oh and thanks :salute:

I believe the above answer sort of undoes itself. If LukeFF is working on an RuB, then that would be a supermod taking shape. The OP doesn't ask for a finished supermod; it specifically asks for what is taking shape.

well if you just want to know if things are in the planning stages and "some" things are being worked on then yes IMO i believe they are a couple of supermods "under construction" but to my knowledge the thought of releasing anything before the game is finished being patched isnt part of the plan.
@ ddrgn, great to hear and i wish you luck and hope you are correct and your work isnt wasted.
EDIT: there were patches with sh3 and sh4 that didnt cause issues but then another patch made so many changes that a lot of things were broken in the TMO or RFB mods and some things had to be redone again. i understand GWX was given many headaches by patches as well. if the past is any indication then you may experience the same problems but lets hope not.

LukeFF is not working on a production ready supermod (yet). What I know is a) that he tired of it (and right he is) and b) the things that he 'has' done, are merely to check stuff, to form a plan, to get an idea of what's possible, etc. Even if 1.2 is the last patch you can count on at least 6 months or more before you will see any form of supermod from him.
He can correct me if I'm wrong but I think I'm pretty close.
Good for him. As a Guinness drinker, i know that good things come to those who wait :P

Correct where SH4 is concerned. I'd also add that some items that i thought i could "get away with" and not change, i couldn't. If anyones ever heard stories about 500 MB save games, that was my fault because i thought something was patch compatible when it was not.
Most large scale mods for SH3 didn't occur until after 1.4b was in existance.

Neither NYGM or GWX ever had to contend with game patches as far as i know. Sh3 was patched to 1.4b beforehand.

SH5 is progressing along nicely with mods and 1.2 patch . Considering we havnt had a Campaign mod yet , the amount of files is boggling i think SH5 is doing pretty well . I think the next 2 major steps will be someone or group to put out an AI mod (scripting) and a campaign mod . I dont expect any sort of game changing mega mod until at least sometime in 2012 .

Bigboywolly has pointed out that there's alot of work involved in doing that though, problems with 'Centre of Gravity' and stuff :hmmm:

You might be right, but to us its still Chinese whispers and rumors.
Most here will only belive it once Ubi (the most reliable source of all) has officially confirmed they have sealed the hatch on SH5.

I don't presume to know anything in this regard. And if i did, odds are i wouldn't be at liberty to say.
