View Full Version : [Need help] Conning tower emblem on skin

Hi!

I am a member of the 100% realism group called "Monsun Gruppe" (we use GWX mod and 100% realism settings). We are looking for members if you are interested ;P

Now for the problem.
I am trying to add our group emblem on the front of the conning tower on our submarines, currently I am trying to figure out how to do the VII C/B and then I will do the rest later.

Now I want to know what skin file is it that has the front of the conning tower (top part)? I have looked over the skins that are in my "C:\Programfiler\Ubisoft\SilentHunterIII\data\Textu res\TLowRes\tex" (the TNormal folder is empty but I have my skin settings on full) and I have found a file called "NSS_Uboat7c_hull" and I figured that the bottom left might be where the conning tower is located.

I am not sure on any of this so I am asking for help.
The reason we want the Emblem to be on front is that we want to have our group emblem on front of our submarines and our personal emblem on the side using the in-game emblem function.

But if anyone are up for doing it for us that would be great aswell considering that I don't have much modding experience with SH3

grab yourself privateers (i think) "turms your way" mod. That allows you to put your emblems anywhere on the tower.
I cant find the original mod thread but Aces has also incorporated this feature in his mod http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=168825&highlight=turms+your+way

You cant add an emblem directly to the base texture (NSS_Uboat7c_hull.tga) since it is re-used all over the tower.

Flakmonkey is dead on here. The Turms your way mod allows you to have side, front or side and front emblems. Instructions are included as well as a sample TGA. All you'll have to do is place your emblem sized how you want it on the TGA and then select it IG and VIOLA! she'll be on the front of your boat!

Oh yeah...Nice emblem BTW, I like it!

It is under constant updates as I am a perfectionist ^^

But as for the Type IX, is it possible to add the emblem directly to the skin or is it the same tale on that aswell? If it is the same way, is there any program/mod that can help me with this or will that not be possible?

It would be very tricky to add an emblem directly to the skin as parts of the texture are re-used all over the tower (same as the typ7s) but its certainly possible to make a mod using privateers method for the typeIX boats, i may attempt it when im sober.
