They say that picture is worth a thousand words...
What is 10 pictures worth? (I guess 10,000 words if I do my math right. :D)
My latest MOD in progress, coming to your computers in next 14 days.

Very very nice work there! If I take a snapshot the new WS mod looks great but in game is like an egg on end, with old WS mod is like egg on flat, wish I could fix it!!:hmmm:

Best regards.

That looks really awesome, I cant wait to try it, Thank you for all your work:salute:
Wow, looks very nice.
Cheers, LGN1
PS: What officer icons are used in the damage (F7) screen. They look nice.

Ditto on Magic's question mate ?
It is optimized for 1360x768. It will run in any widescreen resolution but you would have to make quite a few changes. I have chosen 1360x768 because it is (at least on my computer) the most stable and it allows Alt+TAB in and out of the game.
PS: What officer icons are used in the damage (F7) screen. They look nice.
They are modified stock and petty officers and enlisted are completely created from scratch.
I sure hope it works with the new interior mod:hmmm:
It will not work with any mod which makes changes in menu_1024_768.ini

@conus00
Perhaps when it's all finished mate you might write a readme that tells which changes are to be made for different res's. I personally run at 1920x1200 as you can see quite a difference. Maybe I should add I'd be a complete novice so if it could be in nube language it would be most appreciated mate. Thanks muchly :salute:
Best regards.

I could probably walk you through it but unfortunately there is no EASY way how to do it. You would have to make yourself familiar with menu_1024_768.ini and its editing and also you would have to make quite a few changes in Photoshop to a whole bunch of TGA files.
Also, there is another reason why I chose 1360x786: the game engine (according to Seeadler who created the widescreen .dll) has it's limitations based on hardcoded value for graphics (1024 pixels in most cases) and game tends to blur and jagg them a lot while stretching past 1024 pixels.
Myself (even though I own 1920x1080 32" monitor) I play SH3 in 1360x768 with black stripes all around. I can blow it up to a whole screen but the game just looks too ugly.
As I said there is really no easy way...

My Windows Resolution is 1920 x 1080 and I play SH3 in 1280 x 1024, because a higher SH3 Resolution has no positive Effect, on the contrary a higher SH3 Resolution as 1280 x 1024 has a negative Effect on the fps !
With my settings, can I use the MOD ? :hmmm:
Best regards,
Magic:salute:
You are an artist Conus! What a great and much needed mod to keep SH3 growing :yeah:

Thanks, Hitman!
Such a praise coming from you means a lot to me.
I have a small problem, though. Maybe somebody more familiar then me with modifying menu_1024_768.ini can point me in right direction.
Here is my problem:
http://i281.photobucket.com/albums/kk234/conus00/SH3_WS/issue01.jpg
As you can see the hands on the stopwatch are off center. I would like to know how to make it "pull-out-on-click" and "close-on-click" and also how to make it stick to certain area (upper right corner)? Right now you can click and drag it wherever you want.
There's got to be bunch of people here who know how to make changes in menu_1024_768.ini.
Can anybody help?

Gentlemen, I don't know the answer to his question, but please, somebody should know!:) This is the greatest mod possible after the release of GWX!
Way to go. Looks really neat.
Keep up the good work!

Just a quick update: I have figured out the stopwatch issue:
http://i281.photobucket.com/albums/kk234/conus00/issue02.jpg
I am SO happy!!!!!
This son-of-a-b!tch took three hours and third of bottle of Jack Daniels to figure out!
Just for future reference (if anybody intends to "play" with menu_1024_768.ini) the entries for the "floating" stopwatch's hands are G3F I296 through I299.
You can still "click-and-drag" it wherever you want instead of sticking to the edge of the screen but I actually like it that way....
One more step closer to first release.... :yeah:
(reminds me the scene from Das Boot:
Die Alte: "Good, LI... Good, good. Go and take a break."
LI: "We still have a few little problems.") :D

I have a question for German speaking subsim members: What would a label say on ampere-meter (gauge showing level of the batteries) say?
Strommeßgerät?
@ conus00: What video card do you have? I have so many problems with my setup:
ATI 4850
Samsung 2433BW LCD wide
connection between them is Digital at both ends.
As I mentioned the image in game is squased vertically however a snapshot is perfect, surely I'm not the only one having problems, I have worked on this mod a lot with Rubini but I can't get this aspect to work in-game!

nVidia GeForce 9600 GT XXX 512MB
Intel Core2Duo E4500 2.2GHz
4GB RAM
Sony XBR9 32inch flatscreen TV (1080p, 1920x1080) as monitor with both SVGA and DVI->HDMI cables. Runs smooth on both connections.
I'm using 1360x768 with black frame all around (1360x768 equals approx 22 inches on my screen) in native 1:1 (full pixel) ratio.
No distortions whatsoever.

I believe so, on the GWX's the three pull-out gauges (battery capacity, compressed air and CO2) there is blank label on the ampere-meter. would this be the proper label?
Edit: Never mind, found the reference picture, it should say E-kompressor. (Thanks klh)
http://images110.fotki.com/v569/photos/5/1596225/8725001/IMGP7217-vi.jpg
Hmmmm I'm not sure if it should be Batteriekapazität, because actually that means more or less how much energy it can store, not the level of what is left. May be "Amperemeter (http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amperemeter)" ? That measures the strength of an electric current, and indirectly how much of it is left in the battery, look here: http://www.otherpower.com/otherpower_battery_metering.html
EDIT: E-Kompressor is not a label for battery left, but instead probably for the Amperes/Hour the compressor is putting out to recharge it!

That's great info there, Hitman (how the heck do you know so much about submarines anyway? :D)
Thanks!
I'm gonna go with Amperemeter.

Thanks for the info Conus00, I was able to change the value in the first number in the position line by increasing it by 10, so if it said 96 I changed it to 106. My stopwatch is working/looking just perfect!

No distortions whatsoever. That's what I thought, the card is DVI but the monitor connection is svga (analog), this configuration will work because you can change the monitor frequency, on Digital LCD screens the frequency is set, and the monitor will stretch or shrink the image to fit the screen, this I think is the problem, Rubini had a similar setup to you having a CRT monitor. It will be interesting to see feedback after release, but unfortunately a lot of others will have the same problem I'm having, that would not be nice.:damn:

Reece,
I have also connection DVI->HMDI (which is fully digital). I cannot select any scaling options (the game stretches the image on whole screen) but it is still without any distortions - the circles are still circles and it runs without glitches.
Anyway, you will soon be able to find out for yourself. I'm making some last finishing touches and the mod will be (hopefully) released within a week.

Ya the game is a total disaster, haven't played it since day one.
Played it for a while, turned it off and decided to take up modding to try and what bits I could.
Only reason I still on the SH5 forums is to get my Mod finished and hope by then the rest of the mods make it playable.
Someday the Devs may come to realise eyecandy is nothing without gameplay. :nope:

Gentlemen,
good news. Got permission from Anvart to use two of his files. Unfortunately I have to make a time-consuming modification to them so the release will be delayed a little bit, but believe me, it will be worthy the extra wait.
