View Full Version : [REQ] step by step multiple UI by TDW....

Hi all,

I am in very much need of a step by step tut on how to achieve SH3style - all dials as changing the .py cfg-file (and of course saving before someone asks) doesn't change anything. In the py-file I change the UI and TDC in to the wanted styles but nothing happens. It stays SH5Enhanced.

thnx in advance
Marc

Video walk through of installing TDW's NewUI + TDC 2.3.0, with optional folder and key binding change:

Original post:

Step 1 - Grab mod files

Open the NewUIs_TDC_2_2_2_TheDarkWraith.7z file with your 7Zip program. Drill down into the NewUIs_TDC_2_2_2_TheDarkWraith folder, then into the NewUIs_TDC_2_2_2_ByTheDarkWraith folder and finally into the MODS folder.

Those are the folders you'll put in your JSGME MODS folder. The two marked in green are required for your AllDials install. Copy them into your C:\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 5\MODS folder.

Your MODS folder should look similar to this now:

http://img534.imageshack.us/img534/5792/inmodfolder.jpg

At this point if you you could enable the mod with JSGME and enjoy. The dial mode option in the Options file can be left on Minimal Dials, it's the folder that controls what dials appear.

Step 2 - Edit the options

If you want to use a different defaults or change any key mappings or options you'll need to edit the C:\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 5\MODS\NewUIs_TDC_2_2_2_ByTheDarkWraith\data\Scrip ts\Menu\TheDarkWraithUserOptions.py file. It's just a text file so you can use Notepad or your favorite text editor to make the changes.

(I'll clean this up a bit when I get to work, but this is the basics)

Hi Kylania,

first of all, many thnx for your work in your reply. I tried this but despite the change in the py-file I keep getting the SH5Enhanced style.

You edited the file in the Silent Hunter 5\MODS\... folder first then enabled the mod right?

The only part missing from the above is you must change the file
within the mods folder.
And then un-install the mod and then re-install the mod for the changes
to take effect :hmmm:

You HAVE to change the file AFTER enabling the MODS because before enabling there is no such file as a py-file in folder MODS\NewUIs_TDC_2_3_0_ByTheDarkWraith. It only appears AFTER enabling.

When you change the py-file (AFTER enabling the MOD as mentioned above) and uninstall, then reinstall the original py-file with the SH5Enhanced TDC is back again. So where is the py-file BEFORE enabling the MOD???

from whereever you unzipped the mod to:
NewUIs_TDC_2_3_0_TheDarkWraith\NewUIs_TDC_2_3_0_By TheDarkWraith\MODS\NewUIs_TDC_2_3_0_ByTheDarkWrait h\data\Scripts\Menu

Hi DarkWraith, sorry to bother you but it is not. In those folder(s) after unzipping there is no data folder with the py-file.

redownload the mod. Unzip to your desktop. Open up to the folder specified above. Edit the user options file. Copy the unzipped MODS folder to your \Silent hunter 5\ folder. Enable via JSGME.

Hi,

I did everything you said but the TDC is still SH5Enhanced although I changed the TDC setting (prior to enabling) to SH3Style, saved the file and then enabled. I then started the game but it was still SH5Enhanced. After quitting the game the py-file shows SH3Style as saved but apparently doesn't act like it.
This is driving me nuts! Thanx for your help though. I appreciate it but I really don't want the SH5Enhanced style. It doesn't give me control over the torps as I don't have the dials to change the parameters. Also the present dials are not very reality-like.

The torpedo dials are entirely separate from the options file. If you want all the dials present, simply use the "AllDials" TDC folder along with the main one.

Here's the difference between All Dials and Minimal Dials. Neither of these require you to change the options file, just copy over whichever TDC folder for the dials you want to use:

do you have the add-on mod for TDC all dials in your \Silent Hunter 5\MODS folder? You need the main mod and a TDC add-on mod in your \Silent Hunter 5\MODS folder or the mod won't work correctly.

Gents,

I have found the problem! It was due to other MODS I had enabled BEFORE TheDarkWraiths' ones. I set up the game each time enabling a MOD until I found out this was the issue.

Now I have the proble that the TAI is much to big. The problem was a very nice MOD which was called "Less annoying TAI Map".

I sincerely thank you all for your efforts to find the problem which was ME all the time not having disabled other MODS.
:damn::damn::damn::damn: :88)

Good to hear it's working. The TAI map can be toggled with the TAB key. You can also have it start minimized if you wanted (I prefer that myself).

What did the 'Less Annoying TAI' mod do? Maybe similar features are already available in New UI. :)

Video walkthrough added to my first post, enjoy!

Hi Kylania,

The "Less annoying TAI Map" gave a smaller TAI map and was just toggle on and off. Really nice!

shift + tab in UIs mod will shrink the TAI map down to minimum size. There is a user option that you can have the TAI map minimized at game start.

don't understand what you're asking here

In the OldStyle UI version 1.3.0 the torpedotubes were numbered 1-5 in the top left corner. They are not there anymore in the New UI 2.3.0.
