View Full Version : Transfer to Salamis base
Hello.
I have a question.:smug:
My Uboat and its brave men (minus the one who died during an air attack:cry:) are currently at Salamis. It's late October '41 and U52 crossed the strait of Gibraltar than headed East and finally docked at Salamis. She left Lorient earlier this month.
Now that we've docked at Salamis ; could you please tell me how i can transfer to this base since my home base is Lorient?
SH3 Commander tells me ''in other base before patrol 8'' and next patrol grid ''NULL''. That is fine, according to the manual.
I started a new patrol and returned to Salamis the next day. then i tried to make the transfer but i could not click on the ''telephone'' nor i could see my medals. I couldn't also enter the upgrades/refit page.
Any help appreciated (playing GWX3;)).
I followed the someone's advice of starting a patrol in my original flotilla, then passing gibraltar and going to salamis, hitting esc and finish patrol staying outside the port range.
Automatically you will return to your base and there you can change flotilla and transfer to the 23th.
My experience is if you do not return to your assigned base, none of those functions are available and you will only be refeuled and have G7a torps on your next patrol out from the unassigned base.

This is a nice idea though sort of a compromise. Still, whenever i hit ''esc'' the two available options are either ''continue'' or "end patrol". I don't get the ''return to base'' option.

But after you have ended the patrol you can apply for a transfer....surely :hmmm:

if you click end patrol you'll be back to your base; and there you can apply for a transfer

This is what i'm going to do. I'll load the save files i made before i crossed Gibraltar, i will finish my patrol and disregard the cross of Gibraltar thing and then i'll apply for transfer.
One thing though. In SH3 Commander i can click on "In other base before patrol 8" and toggle status between that and "In home base before patrol 8". Does this mean that if i fire up SH3 via SH3Commander the home base will change to Salamis ; having the "In home base before patrol 8" option as a pre-set, that is?

as far as I know the "in other base..." in the sh3 commander is to set the time spent at base to one day, without changing the settings.

I guess you might be right. I'll have another look at the manual. Thanks for your help.:yep::up:
Oh it's ok! I really wanted to go from france to Med passing Gibraltar too, and now I'm enjoying the warmer sea and sun.
I'll try to go back to France or Norway when the Med becomes too hot if I make that far.
Yeah, we share the same feelings for the Med.
I've tweaked the scene.dat file for the Med a bit. No fog, no high waves rendering the hunt impossible. It is really nice. Well, we should know better. You're from Italy, i'm from Greece. Thanks again. See you around.:03:
