That doesn't count...we hadn't started shooting at each other yet..

Each other? How was I supposed to shoot at you? :hmm2:

so technically it was a friendly fire incident! Ha! Ha! No, I had a white flag under my seat and therefore you are the evil one and all your upcoming counterarguments are moot.:rock:

Bloody stalling... :damn:Stalling just displays the quality of the pilot.:smug:

You could have used a hidden weapon, or indeed the weapon of heroes!
Your white flag does not count when you are in a weapon of mass destruction, and besides I didn't even shoot at you :O:
At least I stalled in a quality piece of British engineering :O::O:

O.K.
I'm afraid I don't know the English term for this gauge. It is equal to the slip indicator that British aircraft have (though they are using pointers instead of the easy solution:O:). All you need to know is if the ball is left out of the centre you have to apply left rudder to get it back and vice versa. Otherwise your nose won't point directly in the direction you plane is actually going (this also throws off your aim btw.).

Well, it seemed to work for me, but not for Spud. I made three passes and didn't get a single scratch. In fact it wasn't until I made it to the other side of the airfield on the first pass that I even noticed any Archie. Most of it seemed to be aimed too high to hit me. I think it also helped that the Archie was banging away at Hunters section before we arrived IIRC.

26, 27 Zusatzgerätebrett mit ZSK 244 A

- Fl. 50869 (http://www.cockpitinstrumente.de/instrumente/katalog/anzeigen/gross/Fl50869.gif) (26)
- 1x Fl. 32529-1 (http://www.cockpitinstrumente.de/instrumente/katalog/diverse/gross/Fl32529-weiss1.gif) (27)

all I gather from it is for the bomb drop, but what it exactly does beats me.

06-17-10, 07:31 AM
Awesome.
This thing is for the bombs. You can arm them with it in several ways.
OV= Ohne Verzögerung (without delay)
MV= Mit Verzögerung (with delay)
Then you can switch between dive bombing and level bombing:
Sturz = Dive
Waagerecht = Horizontal

Unfortunately it doesn't say how switching from dive to horizontal would affect the bomb.

I actually didn't know that the bombs could be switched from delayed to not delayed in mid flight.:yeah:

SgtPotato
06-17-10, 07:33 AM
Speaking of bombs...

I saw you explode over the destoryer after you tried to skip bomb, Schroeder. Did your bombs decide to "return to sender"?

Schroeder
06-17-10, 08:01 AM
Arclight had the same problem. It seemed as if the bomb delay did not work although it was set to 3 seconds. The game doesn't simulate malfunctions like this so maybe there was a lag caused problem that caused the bombs to detonate earlier than they should have. :hmm2:
Or maybe the flak got me directly over the ship, though I find that hard to believe considering that BOTH my wings fell off.
It really looks like a premature detonation of my bombs and I've no real idea how this could happen. :hmm2:

SgtPotato
06-17-10, 09:00 AM
I set the time delay to zero.

Maybe the destroyer got lucky that it shot your bombs before you drop?

Schroeder
06-17-10, 09:10 AM
Nope, I destroyed my target so the bombs did hit. If the bombs had been hit while still attached to my aircraft I would have disintegrated on the spot.:dead:

Raptor1
06-17-10, 09:19 AM
Does IL-2 even model such things as bombs hit and exploding in mid air?

Schroeder
06-17-10, 09:37 AM
I'm not entirely sure. I had some bombers explode nicely when I hit them with cannons in the fuselage. I always considered that to have been hits into the bomb load. :hmm2:

HunterICX
06-17-10, 09:38 AM
I think it's the mod, I've noticed since that the bombs create somekind of explosion when they hit the ground (thought it doesn't blow up anything nearby) then 3 seconds later (my default delay) the bigger explosion and it causes targets to be destroyed.

perhaps tonight I'll launch a dogfight server for a short while before we start the mission to test what the hell is going on with the bombs and the delay.

I'll have a target (unarmed merchant ship) and you'll skip bomb it again with the same settings you used in the last mission

Go to the quick mission builder, get into an aircraft and fly through the "non invisible" AKA "not a forest" trees. You will see they don't do any damage.
If you got destroyed while flying low you will have hit the ground or some other object.:know:
Except for you flew into those that are that can be placed around airfields as static objects. Those have a collision model of course.

I was talking about the generic ones on the maps as being harmless.
