I was wondering if someone could help me out with a REALLY annoying problem. I have a brand new Nvidia GT 240, and for some reason, I can't get the AA settings working properly on SH3 (or SH4 for that matter). I just can't stand the jagged edges!!!

I have tried almost all the settings on the Nvidia control pannel, but just can't find a solution! I know that this card is capable, but it just won't work! (Thats basically the only thing I hate about SH3 is the terrible in game graphics settings).

Thanks,

U-48KM

Have you tried doing Ctrl+Page up/Page down?

I have the same problem with my ATI 5870. I have my card set at 4xAA in the Catalyst drivers but in SH3/GWX Gold the jaggies appear. The way I solved it is to load SH3 and start a mission. Then Alt-tab out of the game to the desktop and open the catalyst video control panel. I open the 3D settings and then hit apply and exit the catalyst control panel and go back to the desk top. Then I alt-tab back into SH3 and voila! The anti-aliasing magically is activated and works fine-no more jaggies.

This method might work with the Nvidea GeForce control panel also.

Had quite a few issues myself with AA on an NVidia card. Any setting over 2x woudl cause a black screen :damn: Finally - happened upon someone else's list of of their settings from the NVidia Control Panel on here and they had their AA set to 16xQ. Tried it myself and wouldn't you know, but she was working gorgeously and smoother than silk to boot! :D Can't remeber what the "Q" stands for but it works... Screw it! ;)

Have you tried doing Ctrl+Page up/Page down?You mean surely Shift+PageUp/Down? Otherwise you'll rise/lower ObsScope...What does that do?IIRC it in-/decreases AA settings ingame.

@U-48Kriegsmarine

You might want to try nHancer which can be found here:

http://www.nhancer.com/

Also follow Rubini's guide which can be found here:

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=128516&highlight=nhancer

Hope this helps, and good luck

Best regards.

Nothing worked :( All the ctrl+pgup/down seemed to do was change the light filter or somthing. Didn't seem to affect AA at all.

Thanks anyway,

I've setup a profile for SH3.exe myself with it set AA mode to override any application setting and apply x16Q AA setting. I'm on a 9800GT. Works and looks fine for me.

Edit - I tried regular x16 AA and that works for me also, this actually gives me a bit better FPS. For what it's worth I'm also using one of the wide screen res fixes at 1920x1600, the one where you run the batch file.

Good luck.

Hello to Everyone,

I experience the same problem and tried all of the suggestions posted in this thread but they don't seem to work.

I have Windows XP Home, a NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS, a 1280x1024 Pixel resolution and 32-Bit Colour-Quality

I also checked the nHancer Website and can't figure out, which version to use:
- 2.5.9 or older
- 32- or 64-bit system
- how do I find out what version driver I have (182 or later)

I'm thankful for any help I can get ...

Thanks
