Okay, calling myself a mod newbie is even a stretch; never once have I modified anything....

Well, other than in SH4 I found the crew names and changed them all for IRL friends of mine so my crew was all people I knew...

My question:

How hard is it to add pictures, photo frames, objects and stuff inside the submarine?

I have no idea how to do it.

What is step one? Get X program --> Start proram and open Y file.. this allows a 3D walk through of the sub where you can modify items.. add/erase etc.

I am sure that is probably way over simplified.. but I've got to ask or I'll never learn. I've got so many ideas and I'm thinking about starting some graphical type things. I have zero experience.. but lots and lots of ideas. :)

I would say start listing those ideas and maybe some people might want to help, know how to do it, or could give you information on it.

Okay, awesome.. I'll start compiling my ideas and post them here.

Thanks!

I'd written a tutorial for changing the pinup picture (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showpost.php?p=1363991&postcount=27) in the forward torpedo room. Might give you a starting point for modifying things. :DL

You can start by playing with Goblin.
Then get the Granny Viewer and setup a texture path so it
shows textured meshes.
Granny viewer is faster and also allows objects to be captured
and exported to a 3D program if you wish.

Awesome, thanks. I'll get these and start playing. :)

Upon examining Granny Viewer and the Goblin editor I have determined I am best able to offer ideas. Beyond that it reaches far beyond my comprehension and abilities.

everyone starts at the bottom of the learning curve and works their way up....now sounds like a good time to dive in head first and experiment.

I can't even figure out how to download the programs. One you have to pay for, the other I can only find a demo.
