[TEC] Hi again gentlemen's,
Ok i am close to finally show what i achieve so far i just need a little primer on statesmachine i am not asking to reveal me your deepest secrets that even Scotland yard or the FBI are forbidden!
I only need some pointers and don't forget i have 10 years of experiences in 3d and photoshop plus video editing so maybe one day if you are stuck on some aspect of your modding i will gladly help you to solve your dilemma, don't they say cooperation is a good thing?
And by helping me you will help others at the same time because it is in my intention to do a serie of tutorials on each main branch of modding.
Ok sorry for that little steam evacuation but some know stuff about statesmachine and won't share it just because they are afraid that others would do stuff more advanced then what they achieved, don't take that personally, it is only applying to a very few numbers of people.
I do this project for history purpose not for fame on a forum so please those who can help show yourself and help the community to achieve more great stuff for the benefit of all.
I don't need baby sitting to understand tec stuff so just a couple of general pointer would be fine in my case.
I only want to know how to attach an animated object to my sub that could trigger a sound file with keyboard command from the player?
I repeat it to who want to hear it : I will share all my knowledge on demand without restrictions.

Look in the Library folder.
You'll see GraphXXXX.dat files.
(The XXXX is a stand in for the different names of the dats.)
You can't miss them.
:)
Those tell you how things work.
Then check the different parts of the Sub files for StateMachine controller.
I don't remember which file at the moment but it's there somewhere.
I've not messed with them yet so that's all I can tell you at this time.
DivingDuck or Anvart could explain more but both are away at this time.

I forgot to say thank you privateer you are always there to give some pointers watch for the credits in video!
Do you think Anvart or Diving duck would be willing to help because i am the kind of person who doesn't like to bother others unnecessarily so that why so far i only open thread to ask some thing regarding different aspect.
The only person i pm so far is skwasjer and he was a real gentleman's and give me a full reply on many points that help me tremendously.
Like i say since i was teaching 3d for the last 5 years i want to make well done video tutorials on each main aspect to help bring more people to modding this fantastic game, i never get tired of playing Silent Hunter 3 it has a soul in it.
A lot of people are considering only recent titles but SH3 is a classic and it will stay like that until another developer surpass them and i heard that some company's are doing exactly that at the moment.
So i hope for the best and i am anxious to release what i did so far because i never know from day to day how my health will be.
Does gotoentry refer to the CFG file??

Both DivingDuck and Anvart are good friends of mine and
both always seem willing to help.
I know DivingDuck is unable to spend time on-line right now.
And Anvart must be busy as he's usually around.
I would PM them but not expect a quick reply for those reasons.
I'll be asking them both for help with the StateMachine stuff soon myself.
There's something I want to do on the Schnelltachbach Mod.

Download Anvart's mod and look at the files.

He edited things to get stuff to only work if conditions in
StateMachine are right.
Your answer is most likely in there.

Thank again but i already look at Anvart great work but he mention that nobody is allowed to use the same technique and if he is away asking permission might not be an option?

I would sent a PM with a Permission request and still study the files.
He may be reading posts here now but not logged in.

I always give credits to people it is not my kind to steal others work i only need general pointers to finalize my historical mod. Like i say i am a men of honor.

It is not very in depth, but it is a kind of little tutorial in S3D, maybe it could help you? Not sure if it is what you are looking for, though.

The rumors talk about Electronic Art but i don't remember on which forum i saw this but it was a game developers forum.
And for what i am preparing i have almost finish the main part but since it is my first attempt at using sh3 i am on a learning curve so after this one i should gain speed on the others projects on my mind.

Thing are fine all sub 3d modifications are done, new uv layout and texture are done, ambient occlusion lightmap are done.
The only thing left to do is integrated the new animation and playing a bit with statemachine controler that what i am doing at the moment.
I need to trigger a sound file from the keyboard command.
Thank for following my progress, so far i learn a lot and it is opening a lot of new ideas in my mind for further pushing the limit.

hmmm...electronics art ? i had a little hope that Jane's would strike again but....ok !! any company ,exept ubisoft, will for sure give us something better . ubisoft .....just....ok,ok ....lets say that fishing is a good alternative for them
i read that you almost done with your project ...so that means that you are not far away of showing us something ,right? also ,i really like your way of thinking about sharing knowledge :up:.if that was done from the start ....can you imagine the level of sh3 today ?

How about just a glimps of anything, remember this is a Work In Progress thread, things do not have to be perfect, we expect changes to be made before release.

Yes i am very close to release a video of what has been done so far, i know that most modders released early pictures of their own mod but since i was in a heavy learning curve with s3d editor i didn't have time to post pic on image hosting website.
I fully understand that the more knowledge flowing around the more fantastic mods that come out of it. But unfortunately human nature is everywhere and greed lead the game, i am a teacher at heart and i truly feel good when communicating what i know to others and i am not afraid of being surpass by the students instead i am proud of them.
Believe my word, after what i learn in modding this game engine i will make video tutorials to help others.

I know a lot of people are wondering about what i have done so far but i got that damn disease call perfectionism. But since i am learning lot of new stuff that maybe another reason i have not shown anything yet, to busy learning.

And I for one really look forward to your tutorials. If there anyway near as good as your 3D models were in for a treat. :yeah:

You can rest assure that i will do video tutorials after the release i want to see all modders beginners and experts to give this fantastic sim an immortal life :rock:
Maybe if one day they sale SH5 in a bargain bin around 5 dollard without drm and someone made a good editor for it i might put my finger at it but i don't think it will ever be as good as SH3 is.

One day maybe, while SH5 has a nice Menu Editor included and saves a lot of time compared to editing the ini files manually.
I have found that to much has been stripped out of Sh5 that there was no need of eg the Minefields & subnets also the Keingsmarinre Map etc.
That it will prob never compare to the gameplay even when fully modded, that SH3 offers.
I may try my hand at modding SH3 after I finalise my latest UI Mod for Sh5. :hmmm: As I keep finding myself drawn back to the Sh3 forums :D.

P.S. State Machine System in SH3 is usual feature... and nothing new or interesting is not in SMC ... but it's very interesting how to use this stuff for animation of any objects... Rightly?

I already explained 1000 times to DivingDuck, Aces and another, the technique, which i have described, must have hard control of using for compatibility of mods... because this technique uses crew commands (uboat states are not critical)...
and it's very badly that almost nobody understand it.
