Stronghold

I am starting this post by saying that I am aware that none of the SH games are real simulator games, they have just some simulation elements, in a different degree for each title. Anyway, not having another viable option of playing games related to WWI submarines I have become a player of SH3 + GWX3.0 since last year, and recently I've given a shot to SH4 with Operation Monsun, Trigger Maru Overhauled and Real Fleet Boat latest version supermods, since the stock SH series games are unplayable in my opinion. I am not even talking about SH5, because it's a huge disappointment even from the pseudo-simulation point of view. And I've noticed that the AI in SH4, even with all those above supermods enabled is pretty weak on Realistic level of playing. And also, you can take a lot of hits, from depth charges underwater, or even from the cannons and machine guns above the water, and you still have a medium to long way to "die". Probably some of you have played them both, with supermods, GWX in the case of SH3, and the OM, TMO and RFB supermods in the case of SH4. Is it only my impression that the things are this way? The modders have done great things, and only because of their work I am playing SH3 + GWX 3.0. But did they made the same good quality things to SH4? Or it wasn't that possible due to the SH4 game engine that might be somehow different and worse than SH3? I am just asking, because I am a little confused. In my preliminary conclusion, supermodded SH4 seems to be a lot easier and a little unrealistic to play compared to supermodded SH3.
