[REQ] Credits for sinking enemy submarine!

Could any one please fix that bug?

IMO there should be no sub-sinking-sub scenario in the SH5 at all.
As far as I know there was only ONE confirmed sinking sub by another sub in the entire WW2.

The scenario in Mediterranean requiring you to sink THREE british submarines to accomplish it is (so far) the most derailed and retarded idea the devs came up in SH5. :nope:

In my years of playing SH3GWX I managed to sing an enemy sub ONCE...!
On the other hand I agree, you should get credited or it.

I was actually talking about U-BOAT sinking another sub... Should have stated that, sorry.

Correction: No u-boat has ever sunk enemy submarine, the occurrence I know about actually happened the other way around: U864 (type IXD2 ) was sunk by the British Submarine HMS Venturer on 9 Feb 1945 (the only known incident where one submerged submarine sank another submerged submarine).

According to uboat.net twelve u-boats were sunk by submarines, while u-boats sank four of their enemies.
edit: Only British subs are counted above. Other allied submarines sank several more u-boats.

I had no idea we'd be asked to sink three subs for a goal. That's a bit insane.
In all my years playing Sh3, Sh3 GWX, Sh4, Sh4 UBM... The only sub I've ever made sink was one that was in port...speed...zero. Bearing 000. No problem. I have a feeling when it comes to that mission I may just turn in my sub and go to a bar to drink with Thompsen while Bernard takes the sub for a spin.

Will be interesting to see what the patch actually fixes once its released, as the devs have at least an extra week mabye they would be so kind and fix this too. Guessing its not high on their list though.

Hmmm... Interesting. Too bad there is no additional data on it.
But I found out about another two (this time an u-boat actually sinking submarines):

On 10 April 1940 U-4, a Type II boat under the command of 25 year old Hans -Peter Hinsch sank the 1100 ton British submarine Thistle off Stavanger Norway. Thistle was the first submarine confirmed as being sunk by a U-boat and was the only Allied warship sunk by U-boats during the Norwegian campaign.

1 August 1940 Wilhelm Rollman skipper of U-34 a Type VIIA boat sank the British submarine Spearfish while returning to base with his last torpedo, there was one survivor. This was in Norwegian waters also.

U-95 was a Type VIIC U-boat and commissioned on August 31, 1940.


On 28 November 1941, U-95 was on patrol along the Spanish coast.
During this patrol they were hunting for British submarines returning to Gibraltar. (!)

At that time though the Dutch submarine O-21 was also returning from patrols in the Mediterranean Sea.

At first the U-95 was about to attack the Dutch sub,
but because the O-21 suddenly changed course and because the silhouette didn't match, the German Captain Gerd Schreiber hesitated.
(O-21 was in luck)

The U-95 then signaled the O-21 to identify itself.. big mistake!
The Dutch captain Johannes Frans van Dulm didn't hesitate and immediately fired two torpedoes at the U-95..
Both torpedoes hit, only 12 of the German crew survived.
The O-21 dropped of the POW's at Gibraltar where they were handed over to the British.

Not sure what you mean by people not being willing to respond to a question. I can quickly point you to hundreds of examples in the last 48 hours of people responding to questions (in some cases even helpfully).

As far as the other goes it not a question of making a mistake. People make mistakes all the time and it is no big deal. It when some makes a incorrect statement, and then uses that statement to bash the devs or the game that they have to be prepared to accept what they get.

The original position that "The scenario in Mediterranean requiring you to sink THREE british submarines to accomplish it is (so far) the most derailed and retarded idea the devs came up in SH5. clearly wasn't anything of the sort as the USS Batfish acomplished exactly that in less than 5 days (for the hair-splitters out there I know they weren't British subs)!

I know there are many people that are more then willing to help, I am not trying to diminish that at all. At the same time there are many questions being posted that never get useful replies. Some replies even bash the person for asking the question.
People new to the Silent Hunter community (Such as myself) or forum posts in general may not be aware of some of the forum rules. Some things that are obvious to some people may be difficult for others to identify.

I was just agreeing with what you posted about getting fast answers by posting a inaccurate statement is all.

Wasn't disagreeing with you. Just wondering what questions are going unanswered. If they are honest questions about the game or mods then I am truly surprised. If it's about DRM or "WHY DID THE DEVS BREAK ..." whatever, then I am not suprised at all.
