What will happen to folks with heavly modded installations and a patch is pushed?

Hopefully they will remember to remove their mods, before they click 'Yes' when asked if they want to install the patch. If they don't... spooky things will occur.

What exactly will happen? I have no intention of finding out, but I am curious...would it just break the installation?

Probably not. It's just that a lot of things will either not work or be really screwy (if that's not getting too technical).

JC, just the right amount of technicality in that explanation. Well played.

systematic error with a domino effect. Just one patch incompatible with non-stock mod code can cause failure en masse. One key piece is deactivated, the whole shootin' match collapses.
One will know this has occurred when the destroyers find you and the merchant marine forgets what a gun is for...

In plain English: "No bueno."

(oh GREAT! I'm quoting MYSELF!)
Example: Look at McHub532's experience with mod conflict in thread Recon at Trondhein Naval Base

McHub's having more problems than anyone I've ever heard of. That poor guy. We should all pitch in a few cents and buy him half a bottle of beer, in the Das Boot spirit.

What will happen is the devs will accidentally break some stuff and issue an emergency patch LOL . Noobs will just download the patch without uninstalling mods and continue on there patrol and then PM modders with abuse about how there mods stuffed up the latest patch or the patch doesnt work or SH5 suxors and the devs suxors LOL .

You done yet? Your posts are so repetitive I could write them for you.
Whats different from any other SH game? Patch comes out, people go crazy with crashes, mod issues, this is nothing new, so whats the point of this thread but to continue belly aching about un-controllable things?

Back up and punt.
Happens every time a patch comes out for a modded game. No biggie.

This is the reason I simply wait until these Ubi games reach the second or third patch, before I even purchase the game. The modders around here are particular geniuses, and I'll let them twist everything back into shape after patch 1.2 comes out - which is precisely when I will buy the game. Then, I'll play it vanilla for a month or so - while the modders are busy working up mods to compatability to 1.2.
After a month of vanilla, I'll drop in the great mods we get around here, saving myself 3 months of punishment (versus had I bought the game on 17 March or whenever it came out).

The new patch will nullify many mods. Modders will probably have to release new, updated versions of their mods. But that depends on what files the patch changes.

I remember when I first installed the game it automatically rolled and update with no user input.
Hopefully they will put a confirm on the installation of the next patch to avoid alot of confusion.

I just finished doing a fresh install of the game after saving all the mods I use. First removed the game and deleted any leftover folders (C:\Ubisoft) being one, and run a couple registry cleaners to remove any leftover traces found there. Now I'm ready and waiting for the latest patch.
During the first time launching the game it will automatically start downloading the first patch but you can cancel the dling process at anytime. After its finished dling it still hasn't installed it yet... you have to click yes to confirm whether you want it updated. Should still be the same process with this next patch.

I just decided I'm a Beta-Tester and now I'm okay with it. :DL
The returning event camera was solved by pressing the launcher cog.
The stopping torpedos have stopped, I removed a no wake torpedo mod and a torpedo damage mod and haven't had the stopping torpedo problem since.
I removed Capthem's (sp?) sound mod and my mouse is fast and graphics (fps) are liquid smooth now. I think my sound card is just lame. When it speaks it hesitates, "We are at..... seven......(long pause) zero...... meters". It sounds very 'computer generated'.
I removed Darkwraith's UI/dials mod just before recon photos and then reinstall it after and that fixed the photo recon problem.
Hearing subpen construction noises 1200 km's away from the subpen was fixed by reloading the game.
I fixed the Insane Small Arms damage from enemy freighters by just staying out of their range. :)
So, lots of things fixed or worked around. Nothing but awesome game play now.

Glad to hear it.
That shopping list of problems reads like when the Chief comes in and reports the damaged boat components when they go down in the straight Gibraltar in the movie.
Hope you have smooth sailing henceforth....at least til the patch gets installed. :yep:

Do we have to put the patches in manually or does Ubi do that when we click on the .exe to start the game?/ I have not put one patch in since i got the game.and do i have to put in patch 1.2 before 1.3?

No the 1.3 is looking ahead a bit (not even mentioned yet) and 1.2 patch should cover the recent patch released.
Just curious, do you own the disk or dled online? :DL

Cool, I was wondering if some buying the game online might explain them not being promted when updating. 1.2 patch should fix you up if deciding to update it.
Copy the "JSGME.ini" file and paste it to another folder
Disable all mods
Install the patch
Replace the old "JSGME.ini" file

Replace the old "JSGME.ini" file
So replace with the one listing all of the previous mods as " Dependencies " ?
Asking, as I have never done it like this before :yep:
