Sorry if this has been covered before somewhere.

How do I import sounds into SH5?

Presumably I simply add them into Data/ Sounds, but how do you ensure that they play or loop at the appropriate time?

So I have a new sound, for example, "Howling Wind" or whatever, how do you ensure that it plays when you are present on the bridge only? :06:

Just make sure it has the same name as the file you want to replace.
Then put the new file in the same loation as the file you want to replace.
should work everytime, just like the old one.
I don't think i have a single stock sound anymore after doing this, it can add a lot to the game with different sounds.

If your talking about speech files on the otherhand, it's done the same way but I don't mess with those, yet.

OK, but what if you want to have two effects overlapping or even playing simultaneously, again (for example) Atlantic wind effects on the bridge, just rename an effect to _2, _3, etc.?

I'll experiment anyways!

Thanks for reply.:DL

to add new sounds you have to edit the \data\Sound\Sh.sdl file. This file registers the sounds with the game. The you either have to edit a .dsd file to add the new soundsource or create a new one. It's not that hard to add a new sound but it does take some work.
