Well its a quiet Easter sunday so its as good a time as any to post a work in progress thread for the type 9 interiors.

Theres not much to see yet ive just got a few untextured test renders which arent worth posting but modelling is going a bit more smoothly this time round thanks to U-505 and its virtual tour which is great for reference. Plus i can reuse some of the stuff from the type 7:up:

As with the type 7 it`ll not include the torpedo rooms, i did some testing of my own with the torpedo rooms added in the type 7 and the strain on the engine was too much, plus a lot of people were already having odd memory issues even without the extra rooms so i figure its best to leave it.

I`ll keep this thread updated in the days to come...

nice to hear this news! :woot:

As with the type 7 it`ll not include the torpedo rooms

do you think you would ever release a version of type 7 with the torpedo rooms for people with better systems?:D

Im not sure, the memory problem didnt seem to relate to how good a system you had, i could run the interiors on an old 512Mb xp machine that barely met the requirements for sh3 and have no problems while people with really good systems with 4Gb+ ram were struggling with random crashes etc.

You could release them with the disclaimer that there is no guaranty that they will work on all systems.:hmmm:

Hi Flakmonkey,

great to read that You´re working on the type IX interiors! :yeah:
Especially for me as a type IX fan!
I´ve got some interior photos, mainly from U-190 and U-889 and several others. Please let me know if there are of any use for your work.

Hi, Flatmonkey,

Happy to use your excellent Typ VII interior and, as the question mentionned before, don't you think it would be better to "look at" typ VII torpedo room ?

Yes, seems it would need a powerful machine, but that would be the ultime part of SH3's typ VII interior not realized yet, do you agree ?

Hi arnahud2, the torpedo rooms have already been modelled/textured and incorporated into the interiors mod and then subsequently discarded when all the momory problems arose, they added another 250Mb to the dat (DD would have killed me!) and keeping them would just have led to more angry PMs saying "your stupid mod does not work fix it now or i will sue you" etc...

Ok, so can i suggest you to make " VIIc toperdo rooms" a separate mod, for high end machine (with more than 3gb ram :D) ?

This is great flakmonkey!:yep: Since some are having memory problems with the type new VII interior is this going to make it twice as hard or will there be components common to both so as not to require even more memory?:hmmm:
PS. I didn't read the whole thread.

Theres no need to re-use components or textures from the VII interior as you cant possibly run both a VII and IX interior at the same time so the game wont load the file for the VII interior if your in an IX boat for example.
So in this respect there are no memory restrictions.
I will try to make it slightly less demanding than the previous interiors though.

Hello

Flakmonkey,

really great work from you and great prejects. All Subtypes deserve your great looking interieurs.

It would be really great, if you would make the torpedo rooms for the type 7 and of course for the 9 and all other that would come in the future too.

I would upgrade my PC just for your mod !!!

Know you´re thinking that man must be crazy, but your interieurs make the good old SH 3 lightyears better than the actually SH 5 !!! even if the torpedorooms would not be animated (Torpedo reloading) it would make the boat complete !
I think there are others who would have a complete boat too.

Are there news from your project of the conning tower room of the type II ?

regards
MG Mike

Not sure if this is the correct thread to ask for it, so plz blame me if not :D

Iam missing the correct diving angles when im in some other room than at the Bridge. I know thats not an issue from your Mod, but is it possible to fix that?

Thank you Flakmonkey..

Really looking forward to this, I'm trying SH5 but in my opinion it doesn't have nearly tha same feel and immersion that your mode has, for simple intuertive game play SH3 is still the best.

Very welcome news. Although I am more of VII, I like too the IX! Dreaming already in roaming around in it. Your interiors keep the "soul" and excellent atmosphere of the uboats and SH3. I love them. Thanks!

I agree completely. In few words, outside the sub: SH5, inside the sub: modded SH3 without any doubt (except for crew models):
Imo, more detailed, much better designed lighting, much better choosen textures (even if they are low res): which leads to an enchanting atmosphere and immersion that transports you to the time, which for the moment SH5 lacks completely, and I am afraid it will require a lot more work from the modders than in SH3 in order to get close (stock SH3 already had that atmosphere, at least)

So a FMInteriors addon mod like "FMtorpedo-rooms mod for FMInteriors" would be hyper welcomed by me at least, even if I risk a CTD.
I have 8Gb, and the current FMInteriors works flawlessly and hyper-smooth in my Win7x64...

Would it possible to release the torp rooms as an optional extra for those who want them..
There are some people out there with massive machines who would probably have no problems..
just a thought, seeing you've done all the hard work anyway, it would be a shame not to have the opportunity of enjoying it.
Thanks.

I recently used a Type IXC for a while but had to switch back cause I missed the interiors. I can't wait to see how much more room there is.

Also I recently used a Type IIA and believe that sub has potential for a torpedo room. I don't believe the other larger subs could handle that much more, but the IIA is so short that if you made the lengths the same as VII but altered the interiors to match a IIA you could fit the torpedo room I believe.
Good luck on the IX and I hope we get to see it soon.

Its on hold for the next couple of weeks, with the way real life if going i just dont have the time to sit down and put the hours in to get it finished.
Its getting there though, id guess at around 60% done on the modelling and texturing.

Wow... I just saw this!!

Awesome. Im a IX kaleu, career after career. Its gonna be awesome to finally have it.

FM, I think it would be a waste to not release the complete version of the sub if you have it. Just release as two separate folders to be enabled with JSGME.

One folder without the torpedo room, and maybe some other changes to make it lighter on the PC, and another folder with the complete sub, and all the possible "extras" for those with 8gb memory who are looking forward to rape their pcs. (like me :arrgh!:)

Cheers for idea and effort! Top notch stuff from you, always.
