View Full Version : No Ship Names Mod This Month

And that's as close as you're gonna get to an April Fools joke from me!

Added 539 new names, for a total of 10,971. The reason for so many this month was that I was able to add all the North Sands (Canadian Liberties - the Forts, Parks and Oceans) to M35B as a batch, which brought the total of that category from 150 to 539 in one jump.

As always, this replaces the Ship Names.cfg file in SH3 Commander's files.

OTOH, I'm not sure I want to d/l a file from here on today of all days.

I'll risk it, but if this changes all my "ships sunk" to things like "MV Fartmoor, Cargo: Baked beans," I am gonna be SO angry.

Great job. I really wish there was a way to tie ship names to paint schemes, because many of the names for civilian ships end up being incorrect. For example, "Eagle Oil" tankers (the black & gold ones) all had names starting with "San" (San Demetrio, etc), Clan Line ships (two red funnel stripes) were all named after Scottish Clans (for example, "Clan Cumming"). Due to SH3's limitations there's no way to ensure that proper names are assigned. Still, this is an excellent achievment.

Oh, no. I'd never risk that.

On the other hand, I didn't think of it either. If it happens next year, they can all blame YOU!

@ Iambecomelife: I know, I hate that too. I was hoping more for SH4 - at least that one lets you separate by nationality with a lot less pain. There might be hope for SH5, though, with all that scripting stuff.

Since it only works on the report Commander files after the patrol is done, I'd say YES.:sunny:

Actually I used to advise against it, but Jaesen told us the fact I just related, so we have his word that it's okay.:D

The ships names are all coming up in my patrol log except for the merchant fleet mod beta ships! (M01B etc.) Any clue as to why would be greatly appreciated!

thanks
Rick

I have no idea. They're in there. I can't check them myself, partly because my computer is in storage right now but really I've never gotten it to work on my computer (all that crashing and stuff).

If anybody is using both any help would be appreciated. I'm sure there are quite a few.
