I came up with a way to see the captain in 3rd person.

It's not actually the player. I don't see any way to track where he is. What I do is use another crewman as a stand in. If you're on the surface and in 3rd person, he'll show up, otherwise he won't. Currently, he always appears at the same place which, unfortunately, has nothing to do with where the player is.

I have seen several pics of the control room with a person at the periscope. Is that pic from this work Heritic?

No. There were some pre-release shots showing the obs scope being used by the 'captain'. I duplicated the effect in the screenshot thread, demonstrating the animations. Mine were done using the XO in his Captain Rahn guise. The Ubi ones likely were too. I suspect they were originally intended for the tutorial.

This is a similar technique, except you can never see him in first person due to a switch I use controlled by the Free_cam command.


*edit* Here's the screenshots demonstrating the observation scope animations using the XO in disguise. This is a different technique than the shot above. It's first person.

Looking extremely good, looking forward to downloading it - one thing - I notice your insignia, the black sward fish is at the front of the town not on either side - is this another mod

The VIIA has a single emblem on the front of the tower, the VIIC has an emblem on either side of the tower. Never seen a VIIB. :O:
