Ooooooooooh no! This can't be true!!
I was on a mission to patrol an area north of Great-Brittain. I sunk a ship and then noticed that the aircraft carrier was docked in Plymouth.
So I went there, FINALLY sunk that *^[%]* Aircraft Carrier and you know what: it doesn't count.
Afterwards, I noticed that after sinking a ship in the patrolled area, it shows in your diary: "objective was complete" and the icon top left screen, next to BLOCKADE OF GERMANY, is gone.
So it doesn't count??
This must be a joke...

I can't even find any ships in that area, now how about that, and btw I'm playing with limited fuel so can you imagine the frustration when spending all the fuel for nothing?!I hope there is a solution.

Somebody just told me today that the carrier objective for the Blockade of Germany mission is down south near the Atlantic entrance to the English Channel. I'm currently looking for him, too and can't wait to get home and look for him there.

If you find the carrier please post it here, but will it count, because it is not in your patrol area?

When I completed it it was by sinking a Furious class escort carrier in the middle of the channel.

Sinking the carrier while at anchor will not satisfy the mission requirements. She must be underway...
Why? I dunno but thats what it is.
Good hunting :salute:

mmm, for some odd reason, after rebooting my computer, I get "ubisoft game launcher: error code 1". So I can't play anymore and none of the so called solutions online, work?? Damned!
In the mission brief it says something like the carrier is sailing round the uk. I parked off the tip of cornwall and waited. After a few days it came straight at me surrounded by 6 escorts. Popped up in the middle of them and 3 torps did the job. Fired one at an escort head on and disappeared through the screen gap with one head on from aft tube also

Finally,
I got the ubi game launcher working (without support, that is) and while back in game for half an hour, I accidently ran into 5 destroyers and... the aircraft carrier. Sunk the royal aok with 4 torpedo's just outside the patrol area and it was registred as part of the "blockade of germany" mission. At least, that's one frustration less. Now I stille have to sink 5 boats in two weeks time, that's all that's left :-(

Spoilers ? This should NEVER happen in a Silent Hunter Game.
Getting intel from fellow captains on shipping routes and task force where- abouts is another thing.
Just wait for thar docked carrier to leave port. If you wait you should see two of them traveling together in a lightly guarded task force at the western mouth of the channel. Date and time varries.

It'd be cool if we could do this via radio in the game. Maybe we could form groups in Subsim and agree to start the Campaign at the same time. Seeing as we've gotta be online all the time anyway to play SH5, why not use the system to our advantage and have a Mod that allows us to send radio messages between each Boat?

Hell yeah that would be awesome!!!!
But you forgot about TIME Compression. We would have to agree not to use it, wich would be a pain in the periscope.;)

Have yet to find the carrier, but I was patrolling off of Scotland and pick up warship contacts dead ahead, coming straight for me. I figured the carrier would be in the mix.
Periscope depth to wait them out, silent running, slip the front escort screen, and in the middle of the escorts - the HMS Nelson! Two eels and down she went. 36K tons. Never bagged a battleship before, even in SH3. It was pretty cool. I couldn't sit and watch the display of her going down as I had to dive as the escorts were a bit pissed off at me.
Escorts hung on to me for a while, but I was eventually able to give them the slip.
Now to find the carrier...

i have a little less than a month left to sink a carrier and 2 or 3 Auxiliary Merchant Cruisers ( passenger ships with guns if that helps anyone. they appeare on the map as warships ) for blockade of germany, so what happens if i dont complete the mission
if i fail the entire campaign i will be doing this all day

Never fear! You don't have to finish any of the missions to continue. To find the AMCs, travel up near Scotland and the Loch Ewe harbor, they spawn there and are easy to intercept as they leave.
For the carrier, just hang out in the mid-channel south of Plymouth and catch the carrier group as it passes (at 15-17kts, so be ready!) Don't try to go INTO the harbor to intercept though, that won't work.

If you stalk the waters just outside of plymouth, about 50km away, you'll spot the carrier task force after it spawns and starts making its way out into the channel. once it is designated as a task force, it counts. sunk it myself two days ago, got beat to hell by the escorts but i got away (using uboat killer mod). wasn't planning on doing it, but figured i'd give it a go as i still had some eels left after the 5 amc's put 4 into her, 5 minutes later she sank. wish i'd seen it but i was going in about 6 different directions at once trying to dodge ash cans (its awfully shallow in them waters). after that experience, im never, ever, ever going near shallow water in enemy territory again. never ever.

I have a problem here. I followed what said in this thread, sank a Furious class fleet carrier out of plymuth, then went just out of loch ewe and destroyed three armed merchants (two rawalpindi class, one patroclus class). Unfortunately the mission says incomplete. I waited until they all were well out of port before attacking.
Despite the patrol objctive in the captain log say "incomplete", the two crosses on the map have filled up.
Do i actually have to go to the patrol area ans sink something there in order for the mission to be considered complete? Any further advice?

MISSIONS and PATROL OBJECTIVES are totally separate.
The Missions are the Iron Cross icons, the sink 5 ships + carrier type things. They'll fill up as you do them. By completing these you get the grey crosses to fill up for the strategic goals of the campaign.
The Patrols Objectives are the yellow icons with an objective each time you go out on patrol. They are generally unrelated to the Mission you're currently on. By completing these you get renown you can spend on u-boat upgrades.
You don't have to finish a mission to continue with the campaign or mission and you don't have to finish a patrol objective to continue with a patrol or mission.
