Question about Pacific theatre, and OMEGU generally ..

Hello,

iam just re-installing SH IV after a complete PC rebuild -
I cannot remember what i did last time, and did not find a readme or something, so i have some questions regarding the OMEGU_v300 -

there are several subfolders to choose from, from harder escorts to Mediterranean environment, or Pacific environment, the OM_SH3 command keys and then finally the OMEGU_v300 itself.

Can i install all those mods, or do i have to choose one OR the other ?
I take it that it is not necessary to install the mediterranean mod when i want to go to Indonesia anyway (if i remember right installing both mods (Med + Pac) has an impact on loading times, and speed of gameplay ?) since ships are then generated in the Med AND Pac, thus slowing down the sim ?

What about the Harder escort level 1 and 2, and multi command and SH3 command keys ? Install all ? What does the harder escort do, exactly ?

If i install the Pacific environment mod only - do i get an order to go to e.g. Penang sooner or later, or do i do this by own decision ? Do i have to join a certain flotilla, to get an assignment for Asia/Pacific environment ?

Do i find a freighter or milkcow for refuel, on my way to Sumatra ?

First of all...

Did you downloaded all mods? Just couriuos... because you can find everything in the README.
Pac Env is only for missions on the Pacific, same Med Env. If you are going to start the game in Sep 3 1939 you don`t need this mods.
Harder Escort is... just harder escort ;) I can`t explain... Detectors of destroyers are stronger - I think.
Yes. If in your order will be... go so far (IX u-boat)you receive checkpoints included milkcow ;).
From the main menu of the game you can select time and flotilla and U... depend of the time... 1939 - 1945... from type II to XXI... and more. Same about operation, Monsun etc.

Okay... I`m not sure, because I`m playing from Sep :) and now is 1941 and my U-boat is VII. I tried one patrol on VIIc/41 and XIc... and I don`t remember now year of war, probably late `43 and I received order from BDU (my home base was in Lorient - for XIc) go to Penang. List of journey points were full, about 8-9? and I saw: meet the ship for rearming and refueling :) I think, after shift to another base I can change the mod of env for better visual effects:) I suppose. I read somwhere on the forum about conflicts between env mods. Pac is for mission on the Pacific, and Med is for Mediterain Sea :)
About Harder Esc. It`s depend of the time and year of war :) Yuo can try for yourself. I`m using L_2 and now is okay... not so hard, but I read, further could be harder, but in the port you can change this, if is too hard for you :)
I think, the best thing for you is go straitght to the readme :) There is much more information :)

edit: Two last question:
1. Is there a command key for switching-off the menu at the bottom, to get a full screen for screenshots - i did not find it. I guess it was the "del" key in SH3, but not here ..
2. What does the OM_MultiCmd keys mod do ?

Here is the same :) Hit the Del on the NumPad (to activate this you should press button NumLock left up corner of the numpad on the keyboard - sometimes is not activated;)). This will hide bar on the botton side of the screen. Then just hit Ctrl+F11 :)
Campaign is very difficult. I mean more real than in the store game. You can start the WWII in Kiel ( about six to eight months - French must fall ;) than you should receive order to shift to the St. Nazaire - VII Flot.) This for VIIb. For IXb home base is in the Wilhelmshaven, than in Lorient.

Lurker thanks for taking the time to answer directly ! :up:
Thanks to you and all contributors for these phantastic mods.

Just to write why those problems arose:

1. I have found the readmes, they are in the subdirectories of the MOD JSGME directory, in "support". I somehow thought the readmes would come with the mod file, like a "xyz".rar and a readme. But got it now.

2. The two main packages of the OM and OMEGU mods come with numerous sub-mods to install, so i thought i had to install some picked-out sub-mods, and the main mod after this - from the order of appearance in the mod package after unzipping - so this is wrong.
As well some sub mods of the two main ones appear in both OM and OMEGU packages, so i thought i had to enable all of those with the same name, one after the other, to get the latest changes in - and only finally the big mod itself. From the order of the unzipped subdirectories i thought this was the way to go. Wrong again.

Reading the links and what you copied here, i wanted to use the following configuration or lis, of mods:

I still do not understand it. There are several sub-folders in OMEGU v300 and the OMEGU v300 5A patch. I surely cannot copy the whole OMEGU v300 folder unzipped, in the JSGME mods folder.
Instead i have to copy every sub-mod i want to use, under the MOD folder in SH IV, to then activate it with JSGME. But in which order ?

First OMEGU v300, and then its sub-mods ?
And then OMEGU v300 patch 5A, and then the sub-mods being in there ?
Or first OMEGU v300, then OMEGU v300 patch 5A, and then any sub-mods of the two ?

Go am i the only one who is that dumb :oops: :damn:

Generally yes that's the way you'd want to set up your order, though I remember reading something about RSRD having compatability issues with OM that Lurker just discovered.

The way I have mine set up is 2 directories. One for Fleet Boats (RFB + RSRD) and one for OM. I just rename the folder when I want to swap back and forth, though Multish4 (never used it) works too from what I understand.

As far as I know, RSRD doesn't actually reallly do anything for OM unless you're in the Pacific which only applied to 1 or 2 U-Boats I believe.
