Aces' Multimod compatibility fix v1 beta

Hi chaps,

I've been working on producing a compatibility mod to expand on my recent work with my combined sh3.sdl mod.

Here's my current mod list, higlighted in yellow the mods that I'm working on making compatible, these are the mods that have conflicting files, mostly commands_xx.cfg, cameras.dat, sh3.sdl, particles.dsd etc.

I have a working beta that I've been testing all day today and will keep testing tomoorow and release it for further testing and comments tomorrow evening. So far everything tests out well, Anvart's flags, FuMo 30, Pennants working with Flakmonkey's new interior and Luca's Open Hatch in Conning Tower. Depth charge shake and Urfisch's Mod Srike effects working as well as all sounds from the above mods such as British Asdic and Animated Sub Pens, Urfissch's mod and Lifeboats and Debris.

Hi chaps,

Just a quick report, I've been testing again this morning and so far everything seems to be working as intended. As the mod already combined sounds in the sh3.sdl from Willhemshafen and Animated Sub Pens mods I've been experimenting with the new combined harbor kit and everything works. I would like to include this mod with the author's permission.

I am of course giving full credit to all the mod authors work that is included in the readme, all I'm trying to do is get as many of these popular mods working together.

I've really enjoyed sailing in and out of the new sub pens or Wilhemshafen lock with Anvart's Flags and Pennants flying and Flakmonkey's engines ticking over and I like the sonar ping and depth charge shakes when I'm under attack (frequently :))

I hope to upload later this evening, I'll be testing throughout the day.

Please note: I am running Anvart's 3GB patch on a core 2 quad 2.5GHz Windows XP pc with 4GB RAM and there are quite a few BIG mods running at the same time. I've been running single missions and campaigns and no CTDs so far.

I was wondering if when you post your beta version, if you could also provide links to all of the mods you have installed. I can not find a number of them by search. I would love to test them along with what I have installed in my game.

I am happy with the work so far, I was hoping to release a beta yesterday but I ran out of time. I've been testing all ing and all seesm to be working as intended.

Before I release the beta I have one question. I have somehow lost the free camera setting, the one that allows you to move around the u-boat EXTERIOR, cam someone point me in the direction of the corrtect file name?. I would really like this back if it doesn't clash with the intended mods. Thanks Magic the mod I wanted allowed you to freely move about the exterior of the boat and not be confined to the conning tower. I will try this one out.

I pulled the 1st download link as I'm testing a combined cameras.dat which will have FM's Interior, Luca's Open Conning Tower and B25s wide combined with depth charge shake.

I will upload v1.1 this evening.

Aces,

Thanks for a great compatability mod mate, makes life far easier :). One question though, the smoke from damaged ships blows out at nearly a right angle to the boat itself and also appears to be at quite a high speed, is this right? I thought it may have something to do with urfisch's mod beta, but in the screens for that the smoke seems a lot better than what i have.

Any ideas?

Thanks for the quick response mate, have downloaded 1.3 and will try tomorrow. The only other mod i was running that is not in the readme is the Merchant Fleet Mod, but that should not cause a conflict should it?

Could you possibly list the mods you have running so that i can try a similar set up please?

Thanks Aces,

I have done a bit of a test and the smoke does not seem a lot better. However i made a sort of combi mod with Urfischs_ModStrike_Beta1 as the base and placed the particles.dat from Rbs10-enhancedoilexplosion which is an optional mod of Rbs1_SH4_Effects_GWX_30_71.

This gives some lovely effects, the only draw back seems to be a sort of blocky image when a deck gun shell impacts, i removed particles_explosion_shell.dat from the Urfischs_ModStrike_Beta1 folder which makes it a bit better.

I cannot seem to get good smoke effects with just the Urfischs_ModStrike_Beta1 enabled though, even with everything else disabled.

If i could find out what is causing the 'blockiness' i would be more than happy.

Anyway thanks for your help Aces, out of interest where did you get the following mods ?

I loaded up this one, all excited to see the man in the engine room. He was there, and he looks cool. On the other hand, I'm also stuck with Turms Your way, which I don't want, and my deck and flak guns seem to have taken a vacation. Other than that, I like it.

[edit] Never mind, I fixed it. I keep forgetting that I have solved some of these problems before, so when things suddenly change I tend to panic. I just deleted a couple of files and things are once again just the way I like them. :sunny:

Are you running the latest version of my mod?, Aces' Multimod compatability fix release v1.3 public beta.rar

The only mod that has anything to do with guns is the New U-boat guns mod you could try disabling that mod and deleting the Guns_Sub.dat file from my mod.

I have to ask, you are installing my mod after these mods?, also is this your complete JSGME list or are there any other mods i9nstalled with the ones you listed?.

1) Disable the mod in JSGME.

2) Go into the MODS folder, and into the mod itself - Data/Library folder.

3) Delete GUNS_SUB.dat.

Make sure you're dumping the one in the MODS folder,and not the main Data folder.
