This mod is for SH3 ver. 1.4b game with GWX 3.0 mod.
This mod is absolutely independent original work, and this mod don't uses stuff from other similar mods of other authors.
This mod is made for all Turms of the human subs (GWX 3.0).
In this mod we can control rotation, raising/lowering of DF antenna, raising/lowering of Flag and raising/lowering of Pennants on turms using new StateMachine Classes... and using next commands:
DF antenna:
1) Raising and rotation beginning - keys Shift+V ...
2) Rotation stop and lowering - keys Ctrl+V ...
3) Also, rotation stop and lowering - for commands:
Crash_dive
Periscope_depth
Snorkel_depth
Dive
Set_depth;

Flag on turm:
1) Raising - keys Shift+F ...
2) Lowering - keys Ctrl+F ...
3) Also, lowering - for commands:
Crash_dive
Periscope_depth
Snorkel_depth
Dive
Set_depth;

Pennants on turm:
1) Raising - keys Ctl+PgUp ... Rise_whole_periscope command...
2) Lowering - keys Ctl+PgDn ... Lower_whole_periscope command...
3) Also, lowering - for commands:
Rise_periscope
Lower_periscope
Crash_dive
Periscope_depth
Snorkel_depth
Dive
Set_depth.

Notes:
Raising/Lowering of Flag work if the Watch Officer is on the bridge.
Raising/Lowering of Pennants work if the Watch Officer is on the bridge and
only in Harbor!!!
If you have removed the Watch Officer from the bridge (or he has been killed)
you should lower Flag and Pennants having cluck with the mouse on the Depth Dial
near to zero (Set_Depth command)...
Water Reflection for Pennants is disconnected (alpha-blending artefacts)...

Two files (Pennants.jpg, ListOfPens.jpg) with the image of pennants and
with the list of pennants, which you can write down in file
"..\data\Submarine\NSS_Uboat$$\NSS_Uboat$$.eqp" after each patrol (as sunk tonnage), are presented.
I have added bug-fixes for Watch Officer also...

Unpack __GWX_DFa-Flag&Pens_2010.rar file in MOD folder.
To attach to game as last mod...

His S3D tool successfully expand (supplement) HexEditor.
S3D accelerates editing of files content ... especially object-animation, mesh animations
(limited) and StateMachine System files ...
The visual control through S3D Viewer allows to place objects quickly ... and so on ...

Hi Anvart, thanks for doin this mod. Can you tell me if this mod (Fix_UZOR_OH_V3.09) that you made is included in the above mentioned mod?

In last pack of DD_OH_V3.09 UZO.dat and UZOR.dat are absent, therefore you can use Watch Officer Fix for the stock game...
On this problem better to write to DivingDuck... He knows all and uses my fix for DD_OH_V3.09.

Yes, "Flakmonkey has already asked the permission...", but IIRC he did not publish stuffs, yet... i think now he is very busied by release of updating for FM_NI...

Unfortunately DivingDuck has not answered on my letters on compatibility of mods, yet...

Unfortunately none of them were what I was looking for. Anvart released 2 versions of this mod (the third link in your list) the first one didn't have the ConfigureBumpMap feature, both mods had the same download file name, as per this thread, but you can tell them apart from the enclosed "readme", only the second version, which I have, mentions ConfigureBumpMap". I had version 1 of the mod but it got overwritten, my hope is that someone downloaded it as soon as it was released and still has v1.

I have found work folder with previous version of mod... without Configured(BumpMap) files :haha: files date is 16.03.2010 0:00 not 0:01!!!

Hello, something didn't work with this mod for me. It's well install with JSGME and in the game the antena is down but impossible to make it up with "shift V" or put the flag up with "shift F", nothing happen with all officers at the right place.

I had the same problem with the previous version that didn't work. First, I thought it was a problem with the keyboard keys but they are at the same place with my french's one. And now with this new version, same problem.

I play with GWX gold and SH commander.

Any idea ?

don't know if this problem is already solved, but I couldn't find any information about:

compatibility with WB's "waterstream and exhaust combi V2.3" is not given.
the "NSS_Uboat21.dat"-file will get over-written.

any solutions??


edit: should have looked more carefully!

With no other mods applied I find once I've appiled this mod on top of GWX 3.0 Gold using JSGME my watch officer has permantly in an out stretched cross position.

Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

When I looked at the file you suggested it was present but had zero size. The downloaded version was fine so I unpacked afresh and everything was fine.

A great mod and thanks for the help.

I have some problems with pennants. I dont see them in the harbor with the watch officer on the bridge and after ctrl+pgup.
Where do i have to put the two images files?

I only have no ring ring mod and the lifeboats and debris enabled

TYYou raise the scope in the harbor only when the crew on the conning tower stop "watching" and start admiring the view!:yep: Read Anvart's GWX_DFa-Flag&Pens_2010.txt file and you will see reference to the NSS_Uboatxx.eqp file found in the various data\Submarine\NSS_Uboatxx folders, edit the Pennant xx sections of the eqp file for the appropriate type and number of flags you want shown.:up: Hope this helps.
Edit: Note that you can't edit the eqp file on the fly, by using Alt-tab, you can edit it but the changes wont show unless you exit the whole game and restart it, if you're returning to base, save and exit game (about 100km or so from base), edit file then restart and load last save, then when you are in harbor pennants will show correctly, pity you can't just Alt-tab!

Just wondering....why does this mod install a new en_menu.txt file?

The mod's en_menu.txt filed wiped out my German names on all the boat's equipment.

I replaced it with the English to German Name's en_menu.txt file and the mod still appears to work as it did with the mod's en_menu.txt file and I have my German names back.

"No officer at the helm". OK. Just results in a txt message warning with no audible message whenever the scope is lowered or raised while submerged.

Doesn't really stop anything from happening. The scopes still work.

I can live with that to get the German names back. I'll try blocking the message and see if it affects the flag mod. If it does I'll unblock it again, but either way it is no big deal.

I have exactly the same problem as Danizzz.
I'm clear with the modus operandi : in habor, watch officier admiring the view.
Ctrl+PgUp raises the attack scope, but no pennants.
What do you mean exactly by "edit the .eqp file"? I know how to do that, what I'm asking is a small example....Please...And what about the two .jpg files?

Not because it wasn't a very nice addition..but...because the time involved in quiting the game and reloading has become prohibitive.

With GWX and the MFM the time it takes just isn't worth the reward after seeing it a few times.

Well i sat in harbor for about 30 mins gametime but my crew never started
"admiring the view"... Still had their binocs up looking for brits! I even parrked in a subpen. p.s In am in a VIIB boat, and i edited the pennants files in the uboat eqp file..

Uboat state InHarbor begins approximately in 200 ... 300 metres from the Pier (from the place of meeting and orchestra)... state InHarborNeitral - in 300 ... 400 meters.

Open *.eqp file in notepad and edit names in items LinkName=... then save.
Names of pennants are in ListOfPens.jpg...

Example:

...
or if you don't want use some pennants:
LinkName=NULL

I just activated the mod via JSGME, i even activated just with gwx and hsie patch, what do you mean with visibility of shadow or reflect model of the periscope..?

I do not exclude of some confusion in the published files. In the end of 2009 I lost all my works made since January 2006. Later some of them I downloaded from various external sources. Furthermore this is not the first version of my work ... I remember... I edited something.

Thanks for posting the link. Unfortunately, that's still the version with the periscope bug on the IIA (see screenshot below). I've PM'd Anvart, but just in case he doesn't see my message, hoping one of you has the version he posted at 03-12-2017 03:39 AM above (post #96 of the thread).

Disable the mod.
Then in the mods folder for it search in the folders to find the Library folder.
Place this file in it and re-enable the mod.
Test it and let me know if it fixes it.

Sorry didn't get to respond earlier But I did download your file. Does it basically change the clip distance of the periscope camera to 0.5? I thought that's what Anvart was describing above but wasn't sure if I understood correctly or if that was the only change. Anyway, that one change seems to do the trick! Thanks a lot!

As my Friend said the mod GWX_DFa-Flag & Pens_2010.rar is absolutely correct. I made a small change to the SubsFlag.dat file that prevents S3D from reading this file. This change has absolutely no effect on the functionality of the file in the game ... but it is an obstacle for the S3D program. Thanks to this trick, no one changed my mod for a long time (until 2013), and this fact allowed me to appreciate that the mod is absolutely correct. In 2013 (IIRC in the middle) I published the unlocked SubsFlag.dat file. Over the next years, I also published (privately and publicly) the link to this file (2 or 3 times). Your assumptions that the mod was made with the error speaks about your incompetence in modding. I, Jeff and others HexEdit-modders used this trick since 2008, IIRC.
P.S.
There is only one version of the mod - 2010. I have not created new mods on this topic.

As a side note on locking files? YES! We do that from time to time.
Mostly to stop quick rip offs of some hard work!

I can, and do make, GR2 files for SH5 at times that the Goblin Editor and TDW's program can not open.

010 Hex Editor is an amazing program that can do things no other program can do!

Do you doubt what I wrote? After the appearance of intermediate versions of S3D in 2008, knowing the structure of the main SH3 files, and imagining the role of various blocks (chunks) of the files, I easily found the necessary solution to prevent reading the main files. S3D is a strict program to make it easier for modders ... but it does not take into account some of the nuances of the game engine, which allows you to use various tricks ... this trick and, for example, zeroing 2 bytes, which allows you to not have the 1st main Skwasjer's signature.

I figured it out, Jeff.
In this version of the mod, I used flags from my another old mod - SH4 flags adaption to SH3. I wanted to make the next version of the mod with the standard German naval flags and with my own animations of this flags (published some examples of the animations of 2009-2010). But the loss of interest to SH3 and my laziness prevented me to do it. I don't like the rubbish as 'Skull & Crossbones' etc. I prefer the standard naval flag! in the form that I know.

On reflection, I entirely agree with the above, I think standard naval flags will have more style and class.
