Can AI detect the sound coming from the gramophone?
Is there also a way to turn the volume up? I can barely hear it when the engine is running.

Hey uhh if you can barely hear it over the engines what do you think the enemy is going to hear first? :haha:

Honestly I doubt that its modeled hell they have a hard time hearing me while I scoot around at flank... er extreme speed.

I compared the volume vs. the volume in SH4.

The gramophone was historically only used while the boat was stopped, during calm weather, otherwise it would skip.

on the surface it shouldnt be an issue. submerged, theoretically they are likely to be able to detect the noise.

It'd depend on the submarine. Historically, whatever nations liked classical musics were hard to detect, but us Norwegians, with our passions for metal, were easy pickings. Germans evaded identification for a long time by singing British songs, but in 1941 the British managed to capture a German gramophone and disk library and the secret was exposed. The war went downhill for the u-boats from there.

You'll need to download one of the keyboard mods - I use Church's , have a look in the mods forum.

It would appear that the devs didn't assign a key to it

Oh wonderful.

Almost for sure this isn't modeled in the game. It wasn't in all the other Silent Hunters.

You can always close the door of the machine room to live in a quieter space and enjoy your gramophone songs. (seriously)

Grammaphone is NOT detected by enemy. Tested it several times at several depths.
The AI in SH5 is terrible. They don't even ping you if deeper than 40 meters. And they are worse than the FLAK gunner. I never had a destroyer being spot on. They are always way off when dropping charges.
I was at 70 meter after sinking 5 ships with 4 destroyers searching for me. So i decided to test the AI abit. I ordered periscope deppth and hit the TC button to 32. TC stopped suddenly when i was at about 20 meter with a destroyer right on top of me. The first thing that came to mind...i'm dead!... but to my horror... the destroyer just sailed above me at full speed and didn't drop a singel charge. I want to point out that this has happend several time without using TC. I can be at 20 meters and AI just don't want to drop the bad weather on me. They rather drop it everywhere else.

Gotta love the AI. I always loved the exciting cat and mouse games with destroyers but this is a joke in SH5. Only thing that i fear in SH5 is the accuracy of the guns on the merchants when surfaced. They are extremely accurate. But the destroyers?...pfffffffffft!!!
