Enhanced Ship ID Recognition manual V1.02

This is a version of the stock Silent Hunter 5 ship ID manual, with extra info on the Target displayed.

Info displayed is Length, Mast Height, Draft (Depth in water), Tonnage and last the max speed of target. (Length, Mast and Draft measurments are in meters).

V1.00: Inital conversion of the recon Manual to display ship info.
(JDSME Compatable - Place into MODS folder)
V1.01: Fixed mistake in in files lenght changed to Length.
Changed all entries for Speed to Max Speed.
Changed Font to a darker shade.
V1.02: Adds Missing info to NOL_T3Cimmaron

:doh: Guess I'm getting dyslexic these days, have them all spelt that way too. Will redo and update soon. Thanks for feedback.

Ok took a look at them, no easy way to fix, will have to restart them from scratch will take about 2 days to finish. If ye want to use current version for now (and just look at that spelling with one eye) and I will post in new version with all fixes.

Can you somehow enable the recognition manual for auto TDC mode? I'm more of casual player these times 'cause I have little time to play but would still like to identify ships, to get draft for obvious purposes.

would be perfect if it would ad where to aim from with the stadimeter, i have noticed warships and troopships are generally from the superstructure, destroyers are from the mast, and some freighters are from the smokestacks.. annoying as hell makes the game unplayable for me because i will not use auto targeting auto mapupdate crap

Since this is just texture tweaks, hopefully that data wont change in upcomming patches.

My advice:
Use my parser right now to fetch the data.
Save it to a text file, and store it away.
When patch comes fetch the data again and store it to another file.
Use a file compare (like winmerge) to see if (and what) changed.


I have a feeling some of these mast values might change when the stadimeter gets looked at.

Thanks for the suggestion gutted. Have just backed them up. Hopefully they do get updated - would be great to have correct values for the stadimeter. :)

(By clicking on "XO") Means to click on the Picture of the XO in the bottom left of the Periscope screen. When you don't have a target locked - this gives you an option to switch TDC between Manual and Auto.
In auto mode you get the 3 circled numbers, in manual you have to imput figures manually one of which is shiptype.
By clicking on the shipclass name ie 'Merchant' the recon manual pops up.
Hope that works for you. :)

I am one of those unfortunate ones who bought the N. American version, the one with minimal docs.

I have been unable to find out how to get the ID Manual to open up in game, and of course, the docs are useless.

Kindly advise so I can view your mod.:timeout:

Was doing some tests to confirm Draft depths and Mast heights.
As you can see draft from config file is bang on with that reported by the interface.

Just doing a rough test to measure distance from ship to see where stadimeter places itself on the scope.
At the 1250m distance the stadimeter lines up the Top of the Mast (Not including the Flag Pole), I wonder if the mast heights in game are without the flagpoles will do some more looking into this.

If I find this to be the case and that we have a common point to measure against in the different ship classes.
I shall do up a new release to include those points: Similar to this.

Ya some of the folder had 2 ship files with different names.
I edited both in most case but that one slipped through. :doh:
Hopefully thats them all.

Dont lock the target untill after clicking the XO pic and tunring Manual TDC on. Then lock the target, you should have some new options :up:

File is 1.02 just forgot to rename it after finishing changes. Thanks for the notice will correct that. Rushed the fix after an omission was noticed. :)

I know you may have already goten this request, but is there any way you will alow this mode for lazy buggers like me who use the simple 1-2-3 fire line way?

I know Manual way is realistic n all but somtimes i like to just use 1-2-3 system to land 2 torps in the same hole on a ship quickly so she goes down, but with you system of identification i can beter solutions for where to place my shots for breaking there backs etc incl depth of torp for keel hits etc

??? Hi maltro sre you refering to the stadimeter issue as discused in your thread, if so alas no I havn't figured out that one. Previous update was just to update a tanker that had its info ommited.

I've been playing about trying with the editior and the XO page for the recognition manual trying to get thing to work but have had no luck.
Managed to kill my installation of SH5 though (Just reinstalled).:damn:

i want to know is the data accurate for the UK carrier is correct or not.
it seems the draft is around 7.7 to 8m, but it showed @ 8.2- 9.02m?

All values are taking from the cfg file for each ship. At the moment we know that the stadimeter is not lining up with the mast heights shown, so there is a problem in game that the masts don't match the ones in cfg file, this could be true of the draft.
I have tried a few in game and the draft on the cfg file matches that as reported by the Torpedo dept selector in game.
I don't know if there's a way to export the models yet to get definitive measurements. :damn:

I bet they goofed the numbers in the cfg file myself. The height in the cfg for some ships may be more right than others.. which is why the location to take the reading from ship to ship is all over the place.

Thats my theory anyway.

Thanks Maltro, No that was just a mock up to show could be done to show the point on ship for correct stadimeter reading. This would have to be found for each ship.
Yes if you want to send me your drawings when done I could draw the points on to each ship page.
Have you noticed if the reading at 1x and 4x zoom are the same?

No criticism take from that Antar. Yes I prefer the look of Book type from SH4/SH5. But not having scripting skills I gave up trying to get it to work in the editor - Just went the graphics route and added the info to each ship page in photoshop. :)
AOTD_Rhonen ran into difficulty with his recognition mod at the time, and so this mod was a way for people to have something better than stock.
I would be glad to help AOTD_Rhonen or anyone with there mods in any way I can.
After all its for the Benefit of us all. :up:

Depends what interface you are using.
Stock vanillia, NewUIs, or Magui?
Stock, i think you have to lock target, then clic the type of boat in XO window.
NewUIs, you have to clic soan icon top right tool bar.
Magui, you have to call the captain icon bottom left, and then choose the manual in the list...

This doesn't have all information for all of the ships, just most of them, hopefully you can update this.

Or maybe its just me.
