1st,
I'm sorry I was not around for the last 3/4 of a year or so.
Sometimes being Self-Employed means tough decisions.

I never quit working on things for SH3 though!
And became better at doing somethings with all that spare time to burn!

I have 2 major projects at the moment.
Then a trunk full of minor thingys.

The Majors 1st.

The Bathurst!
A proper 3D model is down to the detail work!
Thanks to many Good Friends, I have a collection of images
that has allowed me to do what I think is a great general 3D
presentation of the Bathurst Class.

I've also created new DC Racks,
fully animated,
that look great on this Unit.

Along with several 'Special' animations.
Adrian, My Good Friend, Can be seen if you know where to look!

2nd,
The 9c/40 Schnelltauchback for Kurfürst.

This one took my fancy, then became more important to do
as I learned more about this Sub modification.
The more images I got?
The more work I had to do!
And I've managed to keep file sizes very tight!
So it should cause no strain on older systems!

On to the Minor stuff.

The 9C Turms are close to done.
9C_1 will be sent to Tarjak this weekend for his
evil purposes.
The 9C_2 is nearly done.

An SH4 thing I never finished but does a fairly good job.
Don't have Photoshop to do Normals Mapping?
I wrote a tool that does it for you.
It does the conversion and renames the file for you.
This is a beta version and if interest is high enuff?
I have planned future improvements.
Oddly enuff,
I call it "GWX_Normalizer".

I have several versions of Source Code for Tools
written for SH 3 and 4.
Until I can contact the Original Programmers of the Tools?
I must hold on to any modifications to those Tools.
But they have shown me how to write a few things on my own.
The conversion from thier Source to C++ has been a fun treat.
I greatly enjoyed the mind exercise.
And have a few new Tools planned as time permits.
I want to see a Ship with all Gun and Weapons Nodes
active in a view so I can move them and preview them.
Nuff said.

Now one of my favorites!!

Thunder created the base animations for the Life Boats stuff we did.
He also taught me the basics of doing those animations.
I've been very busy doing animations every since!
I've created a base Skeleton Rig that is scaled and ready to go for
SH3 and SH4!
S3D has made it possible for anyone to import and adjust animation stuff.
I'm giveing you the Rig you need to move the models.
It will come complete with a 3D Model I use, with some adjustments,
to play with.
It's for Mesh animations.
Not KeyFrame.
Though you combine the 2 as is done on DC Racks.

There's also the Kolibri, Corsair, Widgeon, and a few other unfinished Mods
laying about!


I'll be updateing this post with links and images ASAP.

I make my living building, improveing, and inventing things
as a Construction Professional.
I love doing the Hands on, get dirty stuff!

So Modding is just my mind never stopping.
And I hate just sitting around watching the Telly.

I wouldn't have a clue how to act if un-employed!
I've not been un-employed in over 37 years!

I did some testing for new Crew Animations.
I have a good handle on doing them.
But never really followed up on it all at this time.

The animations are 'twisted' in a way I've not taken time to
decode as of yet.

All of the other animations I understand perfectly.

Turms Your Way
allow any images on the turms where you want them.
No more small side square placements.
Paint the whole danged turm if you want.

All Crew animations are controled by StateMachine Controllers.
Are we a Hunter or a Stalker or Hunted and such.
Each State calls an animation to effect that State.
That part is simple to follow.
Where it gets ugly is how the Devs 'Twisted' things.

If I sit down and read the files long enuff?
I'll figure out what I'm missing at this point.

Once that is decoded?
We could replace all Crew Animations.

Almost scary!:arrgh!:If you DL my historic turms mod (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/downloads.php?do=file&id=1031) I've used Privateeer's work to add as historically accurate as I'm able to make replica's of the actual emblems on the VIIB, both pre war and post 1939 and most of the VIIC's prior to the VIIC/41's.

Trouble is there are so many mods now that change the turms that who knows what is compatible with what, such as Anvarts, DD's FM's!!:hmmm:

Hi privateer, great to see you back mate,

Really excited to read about your projects and particularly your talks with Anvart about your Turm Your Way and his work. The "perfect" turm for me would be a combination of the following, in no order :)

Turm Your Way,
Anvart's latest up down FuMO30, DF Antenna, Flags and Pennants test.
The "Twisty Periscope" mod
Flakmonkey's Type 7C lightmaps.

All of which alter the turm.dat files. These with brett25's new High Res conning tower textures (the latest version to work with the new lightmaps).

I probably missed a mod but the above , IMO, would be absolutely fantastic.

i could`n remember if it`s already asked but will your great "Schnelltauchback" be usable with LSH/WAC and (i am sure it will) with GWX?
As a user of LSH and WAC my question points primary on them.
Especially LSH could be a problem (in my eyes) because of several renaming of towers f.e. I really hope you find a solution for that. In my opinion Your mod is as important as FM/DD Mod of the interieur!

It would be a simple matter of exporting the hull and reflection objects from the GWX dat then import them into the LSH/WAC dats.
If there's any difference between them.
:hmmm:

I'll make the parts available seperately if anyone would like.

I made no changes to the Turms.

So if it is possible to rebuild the animations more "easily", then the door to change crew meshes is more open!

In fact I was just looking into this when I found your post, so I stop diesels until the tool (or a mod) is released.

I was trying to get the 2A Turm done tonite but it's being a PITA!
:hmmm:

So I'm going to stop with it for tonite and do some work on the
Schnelltauchback

Which you can see a bit of in the 9c images.

Good news and looking good. With the Easter long weekend coming up I might get some time to work on the IXC historic turms pack.
