Does anyone know how you get the watch tower crew to go below when going to periscope depth?
it seems to me that you can only start the dive by going below yourself and closing the hatch, which seems to leave the others on the bridge!
Thanks!
They have teleporters, don't worry, they'll be fine.

Would it be possible to mod a script so that diving commands are enabled while you're still outside?
And then if you allow the sub to dive under you past a certain depth and you fail to get inside, game over?
It's really retarded to be sitting on the surface, have a destroyer come out of the fog at 1000 yards to ram and NOT be able to order my boat to dive for 10 seconds till I get myself inside first...

I would think the best solution would be to change it so you order a dive from the bridge, and then it automatically takes you to the conning tower. The senior officer, after all, should always be the last one down the hatch.

Yes it would be better for sure to be able to issue an order to the watch officer for emergeny dive, and then the crew go down, followed by yourself- is this possible I wonder?
Now that would be a great mod!

Ah! Some sort of, "order a dive and then it walks you to the bridge automatically via a waypoint" system? I like it!
I could also make do with a "warp" to bridge but I think a lot of people would complain about the break in immersion.

This stumped me for a while... it said "Can't dive with crew on deck", and I searched in vain for a way to order them below. Had been a lot easier if he'd just said, "Er... Herr Kaleun, we can't dive with our skipper on the ****ing conning tower, duh!".

Exactly same for me- lets hope someone can fix this as above!
OTOH I find realistic the way things are in the game. Based on the movies I saw, IRL the procedure should have been something like this:
plane spotted > ALARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRM > 4 people evacuate the CT > the last one closes and seals the hatch > skipper orders crash dive
This should have taken well above the 10 seconds needed for us to climb down the ladder and order the dive. So, I'm okay with the time it takes me to get below. I even take the time to close the hatch myself:D

Yes I agree but leaving the crew on the briddge when you go below seems rather unfair on them!:salute:

I would love to have a dialog option (and/or keystroke) to order the crew below. So i actually can see them entering the conning tower and moving down.

Hi,
I'm sure you guys are more experienced then me, but what buffles myself is when I have the sub at 7 meters depth, I cant open the hatch anymore.
I can even walk around on the deck.
My crew is of the bridge and I'm running on electric motors.
I cant dive cause I'm on the bridge.
In order to dive I have to resurface and start the diving procedure.
Surely in calm or moderate weather condition it was possible to sail in such matter and stay in a lower detecion.
I like the new SH5 just a pitty it was changed so much in the UI, and they where more concerned by graphs.
They also should have kept a bit more of the crewmanagement of the SH4 and for sure a direct link to the sailors have active roles.
Why do i have to walk half my sub to talk to my sonar operator ?
I'm sure you people will make this a better subsim and I realy hope UBISOFT is given the next SH programing to a new dev team.
Like I said before just leave the current one's the color crayons.

hmmm.... has anyone tried to run 'decks awash'?
if so, does it work and can you man the flak guns [in later models with the 20mm on the wintergarden]?
[sorry for so many questions everyone. i cant play it YET cos internet v drm issues.]

It is definately an error in the way the game is made as the crew can even be seen on deck through the periscope when submerged after diving!
Hopefully it will get sorted out.

Hi,
I guess 'Decks awash' would be the 7 meter depth I was reffering to earlier.
Yes you can still use both guns at that depth, the gun crews are up to their neck submerged but the gun fire's.
I still need to find the SH4 mod for the gus use as the one in game is a child version as far that I have not seen any, it just shows a green arc where your shot will hit.
I cant find words to explain how this game was ********P from the previous versions.
