View Full Version : [PROB] Flickering at 3D-Models cause of mods?

I had a problem with flickering textures at all ships and buildings like you can see here: (my video)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eO3Z1F77Zjk

I wanted to test what graphic option is the reason for this, so I disabled all options and uninstalled all mods (Camera tweak and No halo no bubbles mod).
-> No flickering anymore.

I enabled the graphic options one by one and tested it after each step.
-> No flickering anymore.

Now I have the same graphic option as before and no flickering.
I don't have installed the mods anymore.

Is it possible that the mod was the reason?

In this video the same mods are active and you can see the same flickering at 1:20. (Video of stabiz)

If this problem is cause of the mods the mods have to be fixed.

That is called z-fighting.

Happens when you're too far away from the submarine.

I don't think so. The submarine is in sight of the destroyer. A view seconds after the end of the video the destroyer attacked me.

I think its weather related. I see it less in nice weather.

Edit: Uh, the weather is nice in your video.

I have a nVidia GTX295.
But I don't have the problem anymore after I uninstalled the two mods.
- Camera tweak
- No halo no bubbles

Interesting! The cam tweak is nice but can be sacrificed, but I really dont want those halos and bubbles back.:cry:

Can you post the changes made by the camera mod ? That is most probably the issue.

I don't know the changes the mod is doing.
This are the two mods I had installed:

[REL]No Damn Bubbles, No Damn Halo Mod (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=162677)

[REL] Free Cam Tweak (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=162663)

I have the same flickering, but with other mods enabled.
Accurate German Flags and MiniChrono lol.

Absolutely! I get this with stock, but not all the time. I think it has to do with when the camera goes from exterior to interior mode - perhaps the depth resolution gets confused between the two?

It's introduced / made more apparent with the free camera tweak. Don't install that one and you should be fine. Although I think I've read someone mention that they had the same kind of problems with default much less and only at certain angles.

I still use the mod personally, I'm sure CCIP will tweak it a little bit more soon.

Yeah, sorry guys, it's an issue with the mod's reduced clipping distance from the sub. At the moment it's a bit of a tradeoff between how close you can get the camera to the sub, versus the occurence of these glitches. At narrow FOV these are less obvious, at regular FOV though it still needs a bit of tweaking.

Kinda busy with work at the moment so I can't tweak it out just yet. Next weekend I'll give it a closer look :)

If you ask me, it's not a terrible tradeoff at the moment though...

Thank's for the answer CCIP. :up:
