Hello kameraden. I played a lot SH3, so I think, SH5 is the same, the same game and strategy. It is very boring to me now drawing lines, make calculus, etc. (playing "realistic" mode always)

Is this the end of SH for me? :(

Reading your posts I figure out what is happen to me with SH :hmmm:
I hate the fast foward cam view x32 (all things moving like crazy), this is so unrealistic/arcade that makes me hate it. I constantly turn to the full map to escape from this awful scene when I have to compress the tiem

If you read some real life patrol logs you can see how interesting submarine life can be. Things like convoys being redirected based on sub sightings, mechanical failures, HF/DF communications intercepts, radar jamming... all stuff not modeled in SH5.

They had a chance to implement more of this, to make patrols more interesting. Instead they remove simulation features and add nicer graphics. It will guarantee more sales I guess, but they had a chance to make SHV legendary. Too bad they failed. IMO SH was at it's peak with SHIII, only to decline in quality to better suit the mainstream market.

What is the next step? Consoles? Imagine SHV with a PS3 controller :hmmm:

Time compression itself is arcade, but some concessions have to be made to fit this game into a regular life.

With "versions" almost released for mobile phones & ipod touch PS3/XBOX/WII versions suddenly don't seem so far fetched anymore. Ubi recently said they would expand and concentrate on their franchise titles recently so anything is possible.

Actually it is not so far fetched considering the enormous potential of the console market. They already made SHV for the iPhone.

Expect the worst :haha:

HF/DF is indeed modelled in SH5. It was even modelled in SH3.

... the average real-life experience on a U-boat entailed days or months of mind-numbing boredom and routine punctuated by a few minutes or hours of intense excitement - culminating in death.

Well of course you'd want to be on the map to TC, why would you do otherwise? I've always done TC this way, otherwise how would you know where you are and how far you'd gone, and if you've reached the point you want to get to?

I think what you want is an action game, not a sim.

I constantly turn to the full map to escape from this awful scene when I have to compress the tiemAs you're meant to. It'd be a bit pointless to have time compression if it didn't make things go faster. That's... kinda what it's there for.
Imagine SHV with a PS3 controller After playing the Call of Duty: United Offensive mission where you run around in a B-17, I always wanted a sub mission in some CoD game. Firing torpedoes, firing flak guns, turning a valve or two, all in an intense "everything happening at once" kind of way that only CoD can do.

Maybe that's how SHVI will be :P .

All the stuff you mentioned sounds nice one the sheet, but ingame it would probably just be boring and/or frustrating. Its great for mods and simheads like yours truly, but the avarage subgame enthusiast probably wouldn't dig it on bit.
