I thought I would release this in case anyone else would find it useful.

I have modified the work of CCIP and ddrgn to fit my tastes and then have made a F1 compatible keyboard layout showing all the commands that is displayed in game.

Here is an example of the keyboard:

This is great but cant load both of those mods get a meesage cfg has all ready been modified so do I just use CCIP command keys 1.03 ?

If you install this on top of CCIP's you will in essence overwrite his file with the one contained in this file (it's a variation of his work suited for my personal taste)

The keyboard graphic pertains to my cfg layout (which is about 90% CCIP's).

Thanks a lot, cool images (something I was a little too lazy to do :dead:) and a nicely featured mod. Honestly, unless there is demand for it - I am quite happy to drop support for my Command Keys and support this one instead, if for the fact that the images make this much more accessible to the public :)

FYI, TheDarkWraith's UI mod has the buttons for them as they were in SHIV. Haven't tried the gramophone but as for the radio, the music plays but my news events are not playing. I am trying to look into why but it may be beyond me, I am not too good with this stuff..... :88)

In the new UI from Thedarkwraith the buttons are gone so you only see the dials. The gramophone works great you can add all your oggs file.
And by the radio you can add mp3. You listen the songs also on Station wasingthon. For the events i dont know if its works.

Yeah I have the music working fine on 4 stations, no events. They worked fine in SHIV but obviously something is different, if they can be made to work at all.

I just noticed you added maintain depth? Are you able to get that key working?

CCIP added that command into the config and yes it does work, although once you get under 50m it takes some manipulation of the speed to actually maintain the depth. If you press ctrl you can manipulate the speed as well as the depth. It takes some working with to actually get it (almost 3 kts to maintain at 100m depth). What I love is you actually hear the dive planes move and set. Nice touch to SHV!

Sure - I will make an update tomorrow that adds these keys ... I didn't realize that they are in fact working ... that is great news!

Let me know if there are some other keys that you think need to be added. I know I left a few off the keyboard for obvious reasons. (ESC being opitons, etc.) and I think there are a few others that are redundant that I will most likely remove from the cfg.

I will def include a printable one as well.

I feel stupid for asking this ... but exactly what is the AZERTY keyboard? I recall the option when you custom install the game, but given the SHV manual is so deep and rich, I skipped over that part <evil grin>

Hmm ... it was working for me tonight when I was messin' with Ducimus's evil little contribution ([WIP] D6 AI Detection aka Duci's Dastardy Destroyers Doing Dirty Deeds) (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=163291)

I will check it again and confirm it tomorrow (Saturday) to make sure.

Very nice. Good mappings and i like the in-screen reference instead of having to keep a printout of the key mappings on my desk as I had before when using the commandkeys mod.

does this just do the same as the default right and left arrow keys for 1 degree left or right or does it go through from 1 degree port/starboard to full right or left rudder ?

if not can someone point me to how to do that or to a mod that lets you pick the degrees of rudder like Sh3/Sh4uboat addon.

Really nice work. Just a question though. Has anyone else had a problem with the clock not appearing after a while? It was turning on and off with &quot;L&quot; and then the key no longer did anything. Will test further on my PC tomorrow.

No - these are hard or full rudder commands. I did add the 1 degree increments to the 1.1 version of the file which is now up in the first post.

keys K and M seems open same screen, not sure this was purpose?

Yes I noticed that as well and made a change to that. The K key is currently open (I tried to add the Systems Page there but it seems that screen does not like having 2 commands.)

Also note that the Event Camera is diffrent than previous games ... still tweaking that as well as selecting external views of near by units. (Seems to not allow you to go back to the 1st person view).

I wonder - would it be possible to add a key which would bring avatar away from the bridge? lets say "go to the control room", or maybe "go to attack periscope"? the reason would be to avoid the clumsiness of climbing the ladder when you need to dive fast...

..I really don't care about climbing ladders or walking around the sub. This element of the game didn't impress me whole a lot.... so any shortcuts to switch between stations/compartments would be very welcome.

I didn't add the open/flood tubes because they seemed bugged to me .. the doors don't actually remain open and they switch to another tube. If/when it's patched to work right it will most def. get added!

Update: I restarted the game today and it was working. I won't delete this report in case there is some kind of intermittent bug here since I noticed someone else in this thread had the same issue.

Hey fellas, I was wondering if somebody could help me.

I can't seem to get the mod working.

I've even tried reinstalling the generic mod enabler. I've tried starting a new patrol but nothing seems to work. I can't even see the new keyboard layout with the F1 key.

Looking in my cfg file though it shows that the keys are what they're supposed to be. I don't get it.

Can anyone help? All I'm really after is being able to call out depth under keel. Don't feel like playing until I can sneak in shallow waters without grinding the sub on the bottom.

Windows 7, English UK keyboard layout and I think the game is patched at version 1.1

I had my first experience with this last night as well. I loaded a saved game and found that the sonar man was voiceless and the Depth Under Keel command would ping but no text came up in the buffer.

I simply reloaded the game and all was correct except for the fact that the storm I was in became a clear, perfect day. Odd.

Unless Ive missed it , could you add Sonar Contact button. I am getting pee'd off at the sonar man , I click on him and there is no way to ask him to check for contacts .. only thing Ive seen is Reveal Hidden Contact and something like Show all contacts.

They are added all ready ... the red z and x keys ... they ask for nearest contact and nearest warship ... if you hold shift and press those keys the sonar man will follow which ever you request ... nearest contact or warship and will give constant updates.

I'm unable to get the sub to return to midships, the hard to port and Starboard are fine, as were the original, and also the 1 degree increments but on original key command and this brill mod, the keystroke doesn't return to midships, or at least I'm not hearing the command "midships" like the original SH 3 and 4 games .....

If it wasn't for the modding community I'd have binned this game after a few hours of playing it!!...very disappointing :damn:

Press the ' key (directly below the [ and ] keys.

As for a WASD version ... I am not going to be making one as it's something I would not be using. You can download this fantastic program that timetraveler did for SH3. Seedler was kind enough to post the link here:

For some strange reason when I hit the ' it gives me an "all stop" command :S

and the 0 key on m numeric doesn't seem to have any syntax...

everything else appears fine though ...

This mod is based on reflecting the movement style of SH IV and III. Not sure what you mean?

In SH4 when looking through the periscope/UZO I could rotate the view left or right (and also a little upwards and downwards) with the arrow keys (if I wanted a fast rotation Shift+arrow).
In SH5 without and also with your mod I cannot do this. I can only rotate the scope by dragging the mouse right or left (fast rotation shift+mouse).
I feel rotating with arrow keys was easier and more accurate.... that's it

ahh gotcha ... yes - I believe that is a camera issue which this mod does not cover. This only changes the keyboard layouts via the config.

FYI, if another update happens-- "System Pannel" should be "System Panel", unless you're in England or Austrailla, etc., and they have some different spelling I'm not aware of!

I think you're asking how to get back in the 1st person view (on the bridge) after using the next/previous unit keys? If so I am able to return to the ship by hitting F2 (twice I think) then using my mouse wheel to "zoom" (scroll forward). That triggers the Binocs view. Then unzoom with the mouse wheel (scroll back) and you're back on the bridge. Or at least that works for me.

What doesn't work for me - at least not consistently - is using the mouse to pan around when I'm using the next/previous unit view. It worked once... but I can't for the life of me figure out how I did it!

EDIT: I found a work-around to the mouse in unit view mode. I added 1, to the museum_camera contexts line, and 12, to the contexta lines for Camera_on_next_unit and Camera_on_prev_unit. I'm not sure which actually did the trick but it works. No mouse zoom though... have to use the arrow keys for that.

EDIT2: Well I thought I figured it out. Then it just stopped working. I think the whole thing is bugged... which is probably why the devs didn't activate it.

The more you look the more you realize just how NOT READY for prime time this game actually is.

Hi and thanks for the kind words regarding this mod. As mentioned before, the external views that are typically used with < and > seem to have an issue as once they are pressed you can not get back into the 3rd person view, hence they are not included in this version of the mod.

Once that camera issue is resolved I will add it back in.

I too am having this problem - also can't get the UI to go away to take screenshots. Have you any ideas at all?

For some reason I can't get JSGME to recognize the file as a mod when I try to import it. Works for every other mod I including the original non-F1 friendly CCIP version.

Not sure if I'm posting in the right place......but.........I downloaded the keyboard mod and it was working fine for a couple of weeks. Yesterday, I suddenly started experiencing a crash to desktop when I pressed the
periscope depth key "P" and the surface "S" key. It also happened in the graphics part on the bottom left hand side when attempting to go to periscope depth. What could be wrong? I cannot figure it out......I've done two complete reinstalls of the game, enabled the mod, and I'm still experiencing the crash. There is no error message involved.......I hit the key........the game crashed and immediately returns me to the desktop. Any help would be appreciated.

My apologies............I would also like to thank you for the great mod.....didn't want to look like all I was doing was complaining. It is a great mod that really enhances gameplay. I just wish I could get it to work. Thanks again.

I have similar problem it looks. I tried to use the Space for locking target, but anything I try doesn't work. Is there any trick? I set the cross in periscope on ship, hit Space and nothing happends.

Does this mod also give me the Camera on Next Unit views? I don't see them. I think ddrgn's mod had them assigned like this:

Camera on Next Unit: 7
Camera on Next Unit: 8

I was really happy to see that mod until I realized my F1 help keys were all wrong now.

And in the SHIV they were the , . keys. I am in this game for the eye candy and I simply cannot believe the only external view I can get is of my sub sailing away into oblivion. I have to continually chase after her to keep an eye on her.

Church, I've just tried your download but can't get it to extract to a folder or drag out pieces to use in SH5. I'm using Zip Genius 6 and it says nothing can be extracted.

Like Merlin says, it's not working. Do you have any other place to get this download from?

Church, first off, thanks for this great mod! :rock:

I see on your help image when I press F1, that I should be able to take a screenshot and the game will put the image in the games root folder. I pressed PrtScn several times yesterday and also to day with no images in the game folder. However, today I saw a post that said to try Ctrl-F11, and that did work.. But your F1 key help does not show those keys.

Does your PrtScn key feature work?? I would much rather use the industry standard PrtScn key than have to remember to press Ctrl-F11 for one 'special' program..

Hi guys,

It's been a long time since I installed SHV on my systems and am getting the itch to play the game once again.

I am absolutely floored at the modding work that has been done, esp Sober and the TDW's work along with too many others to mention by name. Really really impressive.

I have doubts that my Command Keys mod will work straight out of the zip file with TDW's Mangum Opus mod but it's my hope that he will incorporate into is efforts. He has my complete to total permission to use it.

I can't wait till it's done ... looks fantastic!

It is not compatible. Nothing bad happens it just that TDW UI keys override all the non-assigned letters on the keyboard and assign them to something else. It does not overwrite them but rather it overrides by wining the battle between the TDW user options file and the default commands.cfg file.

Since TDW UI doesn't actually touch the commands.cfg file you may find that many of the assigned keys in the commands.cfg (untouched by TDW) but reassigned by Commands Keys mod may work. But you will still have a mix bag of keys commands.

I'm sorry I'm having a difficult time explaining this but it comes down to each mod is after different things. The command keys mod changes the default keys back to the way they were assigned in SH4.

Bottom line is you can actually change all the keys you want in the commands.cfg file and still be compatible with TDW UI as long as you don't bother with his assignments from the user options file.

X+Shift - Delete Marks HotKey [322]
X - toggle follow target [512]

X - AutomationScriptHotKey1[389]
U - AutomationHotKey[365]

C - reposition a mark on the map
V - edit the mark text associated with the mark on the map

M - most fuel efficient speed[104]
N - nomograph visibility[427]

C - display the heading/rudder dial[451]
Q - increase the desired heading when you mouse into the heading bar[471]
E - decrease the desired heading when you mouse into the heading bar

P - hotkey used for crash dive

L - toggle the messagebox visibility[545]

T - teleport commands[911]

B+Shift - ottos chalkboard[1025]
I - increase the chalkboard count[1055]

Church, thanks for the great mod. I'm 62. I don't like change. With a keyboard layout closer to SH3, it's the Happy Times, again! :D

I'm getting closer to buying a new video card, but I noticed something interesting, while using your mod. I've increased my framerate an average of 3 fps. I don't understand why anything in your mod would have an effect on framerate, but I wonder if anyone else has reported something pleasant, like this?

I didn't add the open/flood tubes because they seemed bugged to me .. the doors don't actually remain open and they switch to another tube. If/when it's patched to work right it will most def. get added!

I still wish this would get added somehow, great mod though.

Church you are a LIFESAVER! Just got SHV tonight (yeah, late to the party as usual) and was trying to figure out how I was going to control my boat!

Quick question (and apologies for my ignorance of SHV): it appears that TDW's UI mod allows for assigning of additional keystrokes to support other functions. It makes sense that your mod should be applied after his. The question is whether those additional functions (such as the teleporting, etc) would be compromised using your keystroke file?

Rudder amidships should be the hash sign # on a Qwerty keyboard.
It will be on your keyboard somewhere if it is not the hash.
Some commands are not showing on the Church's keyboard pictures.

Can somebody please post a screenshot of church's keyboard commands keys, downloaded and have the mod enabled through JSGME but do not know the keys for what commands???:hmmm::hmmm::hmmm:

EDIT: Never mind found a pic of the keyboard commands but they dont seem to be working??? Now i do have Dark Wrath's new UI installed and enabled through JSGME would this possibly cause the conflict on Church's keyboard commands not working right???
