I am not racing (or playing in general) that much anymore, but occasionally I do go back to GTR2, Nascar2003 or - Richard Burns Rally.

However, I have not cared much for modding of RBR in recent years. for a long time, modding it was considered to be pain. There were some new cars and interfaces, and both things did not interest me enough as if I would have spend time with fiddling around with them.

What I did not know is that they have found out how to do new tracks, too, after several years.

I discovered RSRBR 2010 in the past days, and must say that it gives my Rally racing a new boost that I would not have expected again. Some of the tracks are beautifully done, especially Pribram I do love. I needed some time to find out about the BTR tracks and the different treatement they need. there are also some tweaks included, allowing contemporary high resolutions, for example.

not only is RBR still one of the very best racing experiences available on PC with some of the best physics you can see, but I would recommend any RBR fan not knowing it already to try out the RSRBR mod and the BTR tracks, it adds so many new great tracks and really blows new life into this old sim. The download is hefty (mod 700+, update, 400+ car pack, plus individual BTR tracks and packages ranging from 25-100+ MB). but it is worth it. RBR simply is the best rally thing out there, and it still is one of the very best racing sims in general.

Enjoy!

Thanks for the heads up (blows dust off steering wheel...).:salute:

Bah, why did they f*ck up the Lancer WRC 2005?????:damn:
The cockpit camera is way too far in the rear, the ceiling is blocking the view and the darkened wind shield is reducing visibility even more!
Man, I've been waiting for this car for years and now it's almost useless.:damn::damn:

Maybe the CamHack can help? Haven't tried it myself, though.

I prefer cars offering a less sensitive engine and offering a huge windshield so that the driver can see plenty of the outside. The Hunday Accent and the Skoda are my choices. I get better times with cars having their temper under tighter control than the Subaru et. al. I also set the pedal reaction ratio to very slow reaction in the ingame menu for the controllers.

You have noted that you have toseparately download the BTR1 and -2 packages and put them into the RXRBR folder, yes, if you want to play them in single player mode? And here

You can get even more stages. Just drop them into the same folder. Some are pretty good fun.

Also experiment with the tarmac mod. Speeding along on tarmac in stages that you only know as dusty gravel tracks, can bring a lot of fun.

I love the Pribram and the Rally Sprint stages. It reminds me a bit of the surrounding of the place I live in. Mallorca also is good. I love doing sightseeing when racing.

P.S. Try out the Citroen 2CV with an awesome 24 HP engine. :D

BTR? Er....seems I still have to find/download something...and have a look how this camhack works too.

And yes the 2CV is always fun, especially at the mountain stages like those in France.:D

I meant BTB of course, not BTR. BTR is a rally toy I shoot at in SBP. :DL

Ah, I already thought I was blind AND stupid.
The CamHack works fine, though I still have to find out how to safe the camera positions. Otherwise they will be reset at the next stage leaving you with three seconds to tune it before the stage starts.:dead:

Could try a rally track in a BTR :hmmm: Would probably have more luck than a 2CV :yep:

Is there a way to switch the automatic gearbox to manual in the new stages? The automatic really kills it.

I have RBR for the PS2, would probably be lot easier to drive with the PC version when you can mount the steering wheel to the desk. I only have the "lap attachment" from my old Logitech Driving Force that I use. But I manage, you get used to it after a while.

Great rally game, really rewarding when you can drive without crashing everywhere. :DL

It was quite difficult coming from the Colin McRae rally games and getting used to a simulator, having to learn left foot braking and the other techniques. :o
But I did learn them in the end, although I haven't mastered them.

Yes, the options must be set from the RSCentre setting screen. There are some icons in a coloum, right of the text boxes for track choice etc. The lowest, "Settings", is what you want. tick the box in there, and you're done. must not be repated. yoiu can also adjust screen resolution there, one icon above. I happily run RBR at 1680x1050 since then - without distorted proportions.

However, settings for your controller must set from a regularly started normal RBR session without RScentre. Use the ingame controller options. These menu choices get jumped when you start via "GO" in the RScentre. If you want a normal RBR session, use the "RBR.dll" button. the other starting buttons I have not found out what they do, I assume it is about different mod sets.

P.S. I think i also have misled you about adjusting the cockpit perspective. I did not mean the Camhack, but actually the icon in form of binoculars, "FOV". Try that. Sorry. SometimesI have a talent for making things complicated.

Yes. At least it has rubber wheels, so what do you complain about...? :D

Thanks, actually the camhack works pretty well. I haven't found out yet how the binocular thing actually works. :hmm2:.
I think I will still need some time to find out what every button does.:DL

On rallying - it really pays off to find the right spot alongside the track for watching:

I know this thread is ancient, but I just got around to dusting of my RBR disc and giving this mod package a try. Very nice improvement over the stock game indeed. I wish it had more of a 'single player friendly' feel to it, but nothing to gripe too much about.

now... if I could just get a Barry Meade pacenotes mod....
