View Full Version : Anyone ever get the twin deck gun thing worked out??

So I remember in stock SH 4 in later war a "twin five inch" deck gun set was optional, such as many Gato, Balao and Tenchs had in later days.Has anyone made it where this can be done? If not, could one of the modders perhaps do this? Pref itll work well with TMO and RFB if possible.

Wouldnt mind having two 5 inch deck guns, one fore and one aft as some boats had in RL.

Just took a look at RFB 1.52 and looks like everything is there for both mounts. The Upgrade isn't available until 22 December 1944 though.

The lack of a twin mount in TMO is intentional in order to avoid the deck gun bug associated with the crew placement. Not to mention GUI issues such as those encountered in the psudeo narwhal before i reduced the size of the deck gun crew. I didn't like disabling the twin mount option, but it made practical sense given the limitations of the game.

If the crew bug doesn't occur with the twin mount option in other mods or stock, then i stand corrected on that point, but GUI issues would still remain. I'd have to shrink the size of the deck gun crews across all boats to fix that, and im simply not doing that anytime soon.

edit: On top of that, there's that 3rd AA gun i added. While historically correct, that addition negates adding a 2nd deck gun. No real way to remove it in game, and it resides on/around the unused deck gun mount.

Not being a smart ass BUT I have dual 5.25's and daul AAA guns on my Gato..You just have to change some dates in the subs UPC file and the upgrade file in the upgrade UPC file..I think thats all....:hmmm:

You misread me, i have THREE AA guns, not dual (two) AA guns. I utilized the unused FO1 node so you have three fully controllable AA guns.
