1st, I want to say I LOVE THE GAME AND THE MODS YOU HAVE ALL WORKED SO HARD TO CREATE! Awesome.

2nd and the beginning of the question: I read posts that talk about ONE TORPEDO, ONE KILL? "Shoot, and surface in time to watch the bow of the ship dissappear".

I have just been using TMO 1.4 for a short while. Lined up on a battle ship and fired the first one was a DUD. My very capable crew told me that after it did nothing. Then I had destroyers all over me. Got away and got near another ship and cruised along with it for a short while. (I don't use manual targeting and have an external camera. I like to watch the torpedo hit and explode.) Turned and lined up on the Battleship again. Launched like 3 more torps. All hit, no sinky sinky. It took 2 more for it to roll over (in fact 3 on one side and 2 on the other).

I have sunk a destroyer with one torpedo (dont remember where I hit it) but others it may take 2 or 3 before the crew jumps in their wooden round lifeboats and paddle away.

So my long winded question. IS There a place we should be aiming on each surface ship? ie bow, stern, side, engine area, under the gunsTwo in the same hole etc??, distance that we should shoot from that allows us to use one torpedo for one kill? ie greater than 400 feet (arming issue), or less than 3000 feet? Or is it all in the torpedo type? ie the Mark 14(?) is better than the shorter Mark 10 (?).

Thanks,

You will frequently see one shot one kill with merchants, small tankers, escorts. Never with major warships.

with natural sinking mechanics it did : a torp would flood a compartment and the ship would eventually sink.

better to shoot all on the same side : the Musahi was hit on both sides and it stabilized it, I think for the yamato they went to one side only so as to make her capsize

Yea she started leaning but kept plowing thru. Cut under her as she slowed slowly rose and hit her with the aft torps since I was out in the front and my crew was not working hard on sliding a fish in its tube.

Sunk flat as a pancake until all under water then rolled over. Followed it on the roll over with outside camera.. IT was COOOOOOL.
