[REL] New Ships-SH3 Naval Auxiliaries Pack

As promised, this is a small mod that contains several auxiliary naval warships that would have served the US fleet during WWII. The "fleet train" crews were WWII's unsung heroes, performing a vital role even though the glamorous battleships & cruisers got all the fame.

The vessels in the mod include two varieties of tanker, several attack transports, and an ammunition ship. They will begin to appear shortly before the US enters the war. Most of them are much faster and more heavily armed than a typical merchant ships. Although they look like freighters and tankers, they can be distinguished by features like extra boats, launches, cranes, rafts, pennant numbers, and prominent gun mounts.

Simply install using JSGME; a manual install is not recommended. I tested it and it worked without additions to the englishnames.cfg file, so don't worry about that.

Yes; it should work fine. Just make sure you use JSGME and do not try to install them manually - that usually messes things up.

Thanks. Although I wouldn't have wanted to sail on one - the crew got almost all the lifeboats, so if you were a GI you had to make do with one of the little rafts!

The englishnames.cfg file is used to map the "class name" of the ship to a more readable name such as: DDBenson=Benson Class Destroyer. It's used only when displaying this name. During all the testing of these ships, a missing line in englishnames.cfg never resulted in a CTD. The game just uses the ship's classname if you omit to include it in englishnames.cfg.

Stay tuned for an expanded auxiliaries pack in the very near future. Some minor errors will be corrected, and I would like to add some British - style fleet auxiliaries, including CAM-Ships, seaplane tenders, oilers, & so on. Some of these vessels have already been completed - others can be adapted from existing ships.
