FOTRS slows down after 8th Patrol

I am into my 8th patrol around Honsu. The hunting was great ,however, I use the accelleration getting to my area. When I use 128 the game slows down. That is the mouse doesen't move, my stores do not change etc. this happened in version 1.2 after 4 patrols. It works great in 1 accelleration, but I like to get to my area to hunt and not take days to get there.

Will happen if many ships around or you get within a port with ships.
The game has more stuff to track so it gets slower.

It seems to be some kind of bug, and not just related to FOTRS.
