Yesterday I told me little sister, a joke that I red here on subsim homepage. I even told her that it was a joke that can't be told in
other languages
it was this one:

"TEACHER: Donald, what is the chemical formula for water?
DONALD: H I J K L M N O.
TEACHER: What are you talking about?
DONALD: Yesterday you said it's H to O."

She instantly replied that it was WRONG!! She said:
You do not say H to O
Correctly gramma it's H trough O

I confess that I'm not perfect in english gramma, but H through O ??

It doesn't sound right in my ears.

Oy, trying to get grammar out of a joke, eh? That can be tricky, but I'll give it a shot.

Both ways of saying it would be acceptable, however:

"H to O" would be an acceptable way of saying it in common conversation. Technically, and grammaticaly speaking, the phrase should be "from H to O"

"H through O" is grammatically correct, but then there would be no joke.

H2O = H to O. Funny, gonna have to tell that to my nieces.:O:

Thank you for the answer. My sister was correct and I stand corrected.
