Hey what files do i need to mod to change these?
Hi. I am a total Noob with these things but started to learn how to use Skwajser´s SH 3D mod program.
With that you can go straight in to Data/Library/cameras.dat and there look for the values and change them.
I will take a look , make a screenshot and post it.:)
Cheers

Here we go!
The file you are looking for is here:
Ubisoft/SHIV/Data/Library/Cameras.dat
Open it with Silent 3ditor (Can be downloaded at the forum)
The file will look like this inside the editor:
It contains all the "camera"-files and you just have to find the ones you want to mod.

Hope it helps. It took me yesterday night to lear how to use it.
Cheers and Good Luck

thanks too !
I have to check but I think the IJN type 88 periscope had a zoom factor of 10.
[edit] checked :
night periscope has 1,5 and 10x zoom
attack periscope has 1,5 and 6x zoom
Lookout binoculars are 20x

Good stuff Gozo.
Very useful and informative post.
Thank´s all but I got the tip from Diving Duck back at the SHIII mod forum after asking him how to adopt the ACM-GUI-mod to his new moving hatches/moving obs-scope and "sausages" mod.:D (Still fighting that ACM-mod BUT almost there now:03:).
What he taught me was to start using the Skwajser SH 3ditor software which I now find indipensable for anyone interrested in trying to tweak/mod the fine SH-sims we have.
I had a natural fobia of digging too deep into the software files but with the SH 3ditor it´s much more rewarding for sure.
It is in the same magnitude as jsgme for the modders/tweakers around. Use it!!!!
Cheers

If you fiddle with the zoom factors.. you might want to make sure that the scope gradation markings match the zoom factor, otherwise, depending on your targeting method, you'll get incorrect readings. :)

EXACTLY!!!!!
Very important if you do manual targeting!!!!!!
You have to check the validity of the readings against what you measure on the map using the ruler. Mast height should be calibrated against number of marks.
(For AOB its no problem as long as you have the same width between vertical and horizontal marks).
Good point.:yeah:
