O.k shipmates... Sorry if this has been asked before, but is it possible to run just 1 diesel engine instead of both? as I see that that was a trick used by various U-Boot's to conserve fuel.
If it is possible, whats the key combination, or what do you have to do?

:salute:

Go to the engineer tab at the bottom left of the screen and ensure the 'standard propulsion' icon is not activated.

This will not lengthen your range ingame though.

If you've been running submerged on electrics this function will kick in automatically.

Thanks Jimbuna, I already do what you have said, I just wondered if someone had worked out how to shut the engine off completely.

Do you know if that is possible with the 'new' SHV or not?

Should be I think..:salute:

I'm unaware if that level of detail has been publicised yet :hmmm:

For the true to life experience, I think this should be a 'must', as many times diesel engines either were damaged through mechanical failures, depth charges, etc, as well as the Captain's decision to preserve the engine for 1) fuel, 2) Servicing, 3) Just rest the engine for a while.

We all want this to be as 'real' as possible, and although it is pretty damn close now, things like that could add just a little more realism for us.

And now for something completly different (Monty Python).... I see that 'Real UB' has come out with a version 2.00 for SH4.. No mention of SH3 , which to me is the one and only, so I take it that will not work for us?
I have 1.45.. is that the 'best' version available for SH3?

:salute:

He means RFB (real fleet boat), which is a mod for SH4. That has nothing to do with SH3. But I know, that you know... you know.. ;) I don't understand his reference to SH3 either. Or how the version 2 of RFB relates to this topic.
