I have been working on the Lexington class for a long time now.
She`s playable with a career based at Pearl.
Here`s a couple of pictures:

Beautiful, quick question though,
Is she compatible with any of the super mods?

Unfortunetly she`s not.

As some of you might have noticed, the ship is very unstable in calm sea. I am making a patch to remove this problem.

Since my theme for the moment is battlecruisers I decided to finish my remake of the Lexington class. She is now built up to her original specs and lines with the addition of some decent AA capability. Here`s a couple of pics:

Great peice of kit!
Theres a few bugs though,
1. when you sound battle stations the alarm is stuck on ad will not turn off no matter what, although the men stand down from battle stations
2. You can only fire the main guns when the sea becomes rough, Non of the other armaments will fire.
3. the guns (AA, the secondry turrets and the main turrets) fire through the ship, So for example if your shooting at a ship on your stbd side the guns on your port side will fire aswell
4. No smoke out the funnels
5. It also looks a bit plasticy?
Apart from that this ship

Just got my SH4 out of storage and fired up and wanted to post what a fine job you've done on these ships. However though the Lexington, N3 battleship, South Dakota and Montana have worked with no problems, the G3 battlecruiser is missing A and C 16" main gun turrets. I'm currently running these ships on vanilla SH4 1.5 and every other ship of yours I've tried works fine, but not the G3. Any help would be appreciated.

Maybe Vanilla is causing the problem. I have absolutely no idea what Vanilla does so I can`t really help you. All my mods are made for either 1.5 only or 1.5 + Operation Monsoon.

Sorry, Vanilla is a reference when you are running a game without any other mods. What I meant was I am running SH4 1.5 with no other mods active at the time I was testing out your G3 battlecruiser. Hope this explains.

Just to let you know, Karl94, no luck with operation monsoon either. Also
tried Hood, P-class and O-class. Hood no main turrets, O-class only B turret, P-class has turrets but the funnel cap on the aft funnel is offset to starboard. H-39 and H-44 both worked ok, except H-44 main turrets black. Admiral Hipper didn't have any main turrets either, but I wasn't sure if you made this one. Now don't take this as critisism, I'm only pointing out the problems I'm having and hope it might be fixable. I sure couldn't build ships like this and the ones that have worked ok are exceptional models, even the Hood without main guns is a sweet model.
Thanks

Several persons have reported these problems, but I haven`t got these problems. That makes it extra hard for me to find a solution to the problems.

Nice job. I did notice someone mentioned no smoke. The funnels in the sim file are not linked to the funnels (cos1 and cos 2) in the .dat file.
The other thing I noticed is the 5in_Double_base_US guns use the stock guns and only have 250 rounds. The game is so inaccurate in shooting, I find you run out of ammo for these guns very quickly.

I took the crew coefficiency from my H-39 and applied it to allied vessels. What are the results? Before the crew didn`t spot enemy ships until they were 5000-7000 meters away and couldn`t hit anything at that range. With new coefficiency the crew spots ships at 15000-20000 meters distance and 5 inch rounds hit all around the ships around that range, main arnament is a different story.

Open the weaponname.sim with S3D. Find the weapon you want, open the node ammo_storage and change the numbers there to your liking.

I added the extra 0 as Karle suggested, but I still get the same result. The AI controled weapons are out of ammo after just two minor engagements. The main guns only fired about 120 shots before they ran out. I know this because I checked the main gun I can control and it still had 9870 rounds remaining.

What happened, Karl94? The Lexington was a great ship. I'm sorry its no longer available. It's a great match up for some War Plan Red scenarios against the G3, or War Plan Orange against the Kii.

A preview of the rebuilt USS Constellation. Instead of basing the superstructure on the SoDak like the rebuilt battleships, I based it on the Iowa with some modifications. The reason for this is cause the SoDak and the old battleships were quite small. The Lex is actually only 5 meters shorter and 1 meter thinner than the Iowa. Therefore the Iowa superstructure, all of it, fits quite nicely on the Lex.

It has been made for SH3 as an AI ship. All it takes is a simple conversion. Or I could modify the playable Yamato mod. The A-150 was basicly the Yamato with 6 or 8 20 inch guns, depending on source.

If so, they won`t show up in campaign unless you go into a harbor. You`d have to make single player missions of you want to see them hammer at each other. Also I have redone the SoDak funnel:

In her original configuration she would have a hyperboloid lattice mast with a three riered platform on top. Like all American BBs (except the new ones.) The Tennessee and Colorado class had them from the start, while the older ones got them during refit. They recieved tripod mast instead of hyperboloid lattice mast they were original built with. The Maryland had her aft lattice mast removed and replaced with a new platform for FCS and AA guns. The Colorado simply had hers shortened about midway to the large platform. On that platform she had AA guns. For the SoDak and Lexington I am leaning in the Maryland like platform. This picture will demonstrate what I mean:

The SoDak and Lexington would have been built with two lattice masts. But they would have been removed and replaced, or shortened like the aft masts on the Colorado and Maryland in 42-43.
The same happened to the Pennsylvania:

So that answers my question and now that I think of it the Lex and South Dakota would have most likely been refited before Pearl harbor because they would hav been the pride of the American fleet, right? but I have a few more simple questions:
1. Will these be released by Christmas
2. After these can you make a playable Pennsylvania and possibly a playable New York?
3. Well not really a question but, MERRY CHRISTMAS:Kaleun_Cheers::Kaleun_Party:

I know you really like the Lexington, but probably not. The older BBs were not updated by that time, so why would they have redone their newest ships (had they existed)? If we let those vessels get that behind technology wise, than all of them would have been in similar shape.
The Hood was the pride of the Royal Navy, the same general age, much more famous and even it wasn't up to standard for the war.

Actually the US navy was having a re-fitting program going on at the time example:

All of the American ships from Nevada to New Mexico recieved a refit from 1927-1931. New superstructuere, tripod masts with three tiered GFC platform instead of hyperboloid lattice cage masts, removal of some of the casemate guns, increase in elevation of the guns from 15-30 degrees, anti-torpedo bulges and extra AA guns.

Don't you think 1941 would be a little early for the double 5 inch turrets because if I remember correctly none of the ships at Pearl had them. Although you could try this I remember in the American sub career your sub would eventually get a refit in 42' that said the aft fairwater was removed so you could possibly do the refits that way?

Well here's what Wiki says the Lexington's armament would be in 41' to mid 42' It clearly does not state Double 5 inch turrets
4 × 2 - 16-inch (406 mm)/50 cal guns
14 × 1 - 6-inch (152 mm)/53 cal
4 × 1 - 3-inch (76 mm)/50 cal anti-aircraft guns (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-aircraft_gun)
8 × 21-inch (533 mm) torpedo tubes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torpedo_tube), 4 submerged
This is how the South Dakota would have probably looked in 41'

That`s because they were never built to recieve 5"/38s in a 42 refit. Wikipedia doesn`t say in that bar that the Pennsylvania had 16 5"/38s, but in the 1942 section is says that the Pennsylvania recieved 5"/38s, replacing the 5"/51s. That`s the South Dakota as they would have looked like when completed in 1923-1924.

There will only be minor changes to the Tillman IV-2 3D model. I have already posted a picture of the definet South Dakota. I am pondering of the idea of adding 5"/38s to her as well.

Are you going to refurbish your HMS Hood and refit because I've noticed MANY bugs in it are you also going to do some work on your ships of the Z-plan because I really want to play as that awesome Admiral Hipper you have if not can you tell me how to make the gun textures not black. I've done the same thing with the H-44 but it seems that the Admiral Hipper's cannons are not linked to a AO map only the playable one is.

I have a new version of the Hood with a remade refit. I might update the Hipper, H-39 and H-44. All of these ships could need a little updating, especially in guns and radars. In the meantime, here`s a video of the SoDak in action.

Love that new South Dakota! She really looks great. I play Matrix games War Plan Orange, and have all these ships in the game. I even made a follow on class to the Lexington's called the Port Royal class with a single funnel like the South Dakota and four triple 16" 50's for main armament. Once again Karl94 you've done a great job. If I can figure out how to show a picture out here, I'll post the picture of the Port Royal from WPO.

Try taking pictures of parts of the ships instead of the whole ship. That way I can concentrate on one area at a time.
