TMO 1.9

I am happy with the dud and premature rates in early war, they are rather unreliable as Mark 14's were in RL.I would like to make some adjustments in light of things I have learned, to fall more in line with history. They are:

Would like the Magnetic Detonator to NEVER be reliable, since they never were in RL.They seem to rarely prematurely explode after mid 43, which is incorrect.

Would like duds with Mark 14 to be a real problem until around mid September 1943 or even 1 October 1943 instead of June 43, which according to things I have read, duds were a problem until around end September 43 even begin of October 43.As mentioned, magnetics should never become reliable.

So question is, what is the simplest way to achieve the goals I mentioned above?

Anyone willing to take the time to explain it in detail(im new to fooling with files like this) or if any of the modders feel that same I do and you are willing to whip up a mod to accomplish this, feel free because I'm not quite sure what am doing and short on time right now also. This is for TMO 1.9

Main goal is to limit tonnage in mid 43 to realistic standards due to fauly torpedos, found after June 43 can rack it up since torpedos work fine, a bit too early.

here is the little I know :

open torpedo_us.dat with S3D :

http://img51.imageshack.us/img51/6662/torpedous.jpg (http://img51.imageshack.us/i/torpedous.jpg/)

click on mk14, look to the upper right : the address that I highlighted (ctrl-c to copy it in the clipboard)

this one you will try and find in the torpedo_us.sim

open the torpedo_us.sim, go to the "edit" menu, select find :

http://img697.imageshack.us/img697/6662/torpedous.jpg (http://img697.imageshack.us/i/torpedous.jpg/)

paste in the address you copied in the .dat

click "find next"

click on the red x to remove the find window,

you will see this :

http://img163.imageshack.us/img163/6662/torpedous.jpg (http://img163.imageshack.us/i/torpedous.jpg/)

to the left, in light gray is the line containing the ID of the mk14 torpedo.

click on the "+" next to the line :

http://img191.imageshack.us/img191/6662/torpedous.jpg (http://img191.imageshack.us/i/torpedous.jpg/)

to the right you see :

...

"+ pīstols"

click it

you'll see (see highlighted in green) :

http://img697.imageshack.us/img697/8585/torpedousa.jpg (http://img697.imageshack.us/i/torpedousa.jpg/)

the first pistol is the magnetic one.

change the dates :

when you click on the date a small window opens at the bottom of the screen allowing you to change the date :

http://img697.imageshack.us/img697/9539/torpedousb.jpg (http://img697.imageshack.us/i/torpedousb.jpg/)

if you click on "dud chances" or premature chances you can change that as well, make them even less reliable (if that's possible ! after all they weren't IJN torps ! :har:)

http://img191.imageshack.us/img191/5345/torpedousx.jpg (http://img191.imageshack.us/i/torpedousx.jpg/)
here you can change the "dud" percentage.

click on the arrow pointing down next to the date, this appears :

http://img697.imageshack.us/img697/2281/torpedousv.jpg (http://img697.imageshack.us/i/torpedousv.jpg/)

select the date, I chose 10-15-1943 :

http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/6662/torpedous.jpg (http://img525.imageshack.us/i/torpedous.jpg/)

and you've just modded the US torpedoes prolonging the life of the magnetic detonator till 10-15-1943

Thanks keltos, so changing the date will keep the magnetic faulty? This will be a help but no doubt I will :damn: a bit before i figure it out.

well the torpedo mod was my first mod, but I only modified the range and explosive power so as to match RL IJN torpedoes.

I made them less suceptible to duds etc.. as they were more reliable than us ones.

I did the same with the US torpedoes making the mk28 torpedo, but never changed the magnetic pistol, although what I just showed you should work.

you'll figure it out, and S3D is one Heck of an Editor :yeah:
