ALL BASIC OPERATIONS ON MEDITERRANEAN SEA
Only for the project «GWX 3.0 Gold».
Only operations on Mediterranean sea.
Battles on Mediterranean sea were very severe, obstinate and dynamical. But it was impossible to feel it in missions SH3. Therefore I have made this project.
All operations real. All actions, events, dates and time - too historically authentic. I worked with this project more half a year. Used many the historical literature, archives, memoirs.
What the new?
The main thing - many new real operations and battles.
On a map of the navigator now there are names of islands and new harbours. They are very important for historical reliability. There there will be real operations. In due time. New harbours are present at game too. There the ships. Movement and protection in ports. Coastal artillery. Waterway. Mines and nets. Only there are no port buildings. But they symbolically have a floating beacon.
Also on a map of the navigator now there are no tables of calculation of speed. They were replaced. Now there: maps of operations on Mediterranean sea. These are trophy. Russian maps - because they very good. BdU has allowed to use this trophy for navigation on German submarines. It is the real truth. Because I have set their. This: the division stamps «Einsatzstab Reichsleiter Rosenberg — ERR», «Die spezielle Mannschaft Kjunsberg» - «Waffen SS». And also Rosenberg's and Gimler's original signatures and signature the Chief's of confidential department of 23 flotillas. The deceit is not present! Do not doubt.

In June, 1943 at game there will be an experimental submarine: type VIIC-42. Outwardly it VIIC-41, but inside the submarine has devices XXI. Also Depth Gauge with a scale of 400 metres. Depth of immersing of 360 metres. And start-up of torpedoes on depth of 20 metres. Certainly it is not true. VIIC-42 did not appear by on the seas. Therefore I repeat: it is an experimental submarine. The single copy. For test. Top secret.
Very important part. It: real radio of the message. BdU sends the real data about the enemy. A position, time, date. This radio of the message is performed for each operation. It very much helps to find one's way. Instead of to float across all Mediterranean sea. From the west in the east and back again. But here the big problem! Because of my English language. I cannot correctly translate my work. The full version of radio of messages - only in the Russian version of this mod. Nevertheless I have tried to make a little. Last radio of the message on English language: 1942.05.18. 3st flight of the British fighters to Malta. From point: north of harbour Algeria. But I am afraid that transfer has turned out confused and not clear. I have stopped this work.Let's assume: it was the radio operator - the Italian who badly speaks in English.
The last:
To take part in all operations - familiarise necessarily with the text document «CHRONOLOGY of MEDITERRANEAN SEA».
Also use SH3 Commander. For direction of time of an exit in the sea. It is necessary to remember that time is necessary for achievement of area of battle.

Addition: If you have a possibility to use the Russian version «MEDITERRANEAN SEA (RU)». I advise to make it. Because you will have the full information of those times. All news of World politics and war. You will have a continuous communication with BdU «Kringsmarine» and «Supermarine». The operative information on sea battles.

If I look into the file a lot of effort has been done indeed. Very spectacular as the Mediterranean is boring. However I'm affraid my Russian is not that good :DL

@Poul : you must contact with my friend NGT ,he has made a great job at mediterranean campaign,he has add some ports at Greece and especially at Crete and also,if i remember correct,he has corrected some historical errors
it is not a bad idea to import these changes ( If they are all correct) in your mod (just send him a pm...i will tell him also to do so)
@community: if anyone can translate russians messages to english it will be very nice guys ! this mod defenetily deserves it !!

Would the time and travel of Operation Pedestal be in this Mod to it's historic effect? This is one of my favorite accounts of naval WW2. The USS Ohio tanker, entering the Med., essentially saving Malta.

OK! Certainly - SH3 the fine project! He lives! SH4 for me boring. Though I have made for it the big sound mod: "Poul-Sound for SH4". And recently has finished one more big sound project: "the Soviet crew". For SH4. It: Battle of the Soviet submarines in Baltic sea. It was made by group DAGON. It to appear on December, 28th. Nevertheless - I love SH3. Everything is all right!

It would be interesting to me to talk to your friend on this theme. Really - in the basic version SH3 there are many historical errors. Concerning Mediterranean sea, at least (nevertheless thanks authors SH3 for huge work). I have tried to correct them.

Operation "Pedestal"! Tanker "Ohio"! Convoy «WS-5.21». Great destiny. The big heroism. Certainly this destiny is in my project! On August, 14th, 1942. Tanker "Ohio" has sunk in harbour La Valetta. But people on Malta had time to take away all gasoline from "Ohio". All basic events of operation "Pedestal" are in my project. And other battles and operations too.
I very much regret! I cannot make text translation for radio of messages! All events are. They have the form of radio reports and radio interceptions. From the Italian, British, American and American participants. It is the big historical novel. I can be now the teacher at university. To teach "History of battles. Mediterranean sea" (but only in Russian)

As i can see, after i activated the mod, the covert supply ships,milk cows, and the AI ships at german ports, enemy ships simply disappeared. Is this normal? And are there any other differencies between simple GWX and this mod? How deeply are the changes in the mediterranean convoys etc?

No. It is not correct. Somewhere an error. Pay attention:
- This project only for Mediterranean sea. In other allowed bands - the empty sea. There anything is not present.
- Only for 23 and 29-flotillas.
- Only for GWX 3.0 - Gold. Simply GWX has no those units which are in GWX 3.0 - Gold. Probably therefore you have lost many units.
Changes very big. New real battles and escorts are added. Many. Which have been skipped in base SH and GWX too. These are historical events. Now all of them are in the mod "ALL BASIC OPERATIONS ON MEDITERRANEAN SEA".

All movement from America, Africa and England in ports on Mediterranean sea - remains. All that concerns Mediterranean sea too. But only which was with old GWX and GWX 3.0-Gold. I did not use other mods. I regret, but these another projects cannot work jointly. Because they will delete each other. If to try to put them from above.
It is a variant "400m Depth Gauge" for submarine VIIC-42. For users of mod DivingDuck - "DD_OH_V3.09_20091209162038".

You could see the ships in Museum or S3D and choose everyone you need.

Poul, you said this mod is only for the 23rd/29th flotilla careers. Does it mean that I can't play any other flotilla? In other words does this mod needs a clean installation of GW 3.0 gold?

I've started a Mediterranean campaign and this mod is a must have for the Med theater! It really brings the Mediterranean to life, there are task forces everywhere, sooner or later you run into battles between the Allies and the Regia Marina ships. Also all the extra island names make it for a nice geography lesson as well! :yeah:
I just have one complaint: the damn airplanes!!:x I can never run on the surface for too long because every hour or so my WO screams "Flugzeug gesichtet!" and I have to crash dive. Even at night there are planes flying everywhere like crazy. Unless it's raining I'm having a real hard time recharging my batteries not to mention setting up a good approach.
Is there a way to reduce the airplane coverage? I'm in Jun/1942, are the Allies' planes already equipped with some kind of radar to detect U-boats at night?
Other than that I'm really enjoying this mod! Thank you for your work Poul!

I have rediscovered this campaign recently and been playing for the past week.
From all the readings in this thread, I confirm that with all those planes, British and Turkish I have a hard time. They manage to detect you even at night :wah:
Anyway this a great campaign to play and if anybody is interested or playing it it would be nice to exchange information here or in a new thread, like we use to be able to do with the "Spitzennet program".
Alos if anybody managed to translate in English the BDU messages from the Russian Version, thank you to share it, it will had a lot for the campaign.

There are no Milkcows in the Mittelmeer for resupply. La Spezia would be the only place I know for resupply for crew, fuel, provisions and eels.
