Hello Captains and Modder,

i want to make the AI-DD´s stronger and much more intelligent so thats nearly impossible to shoot them with an Torpedo.

I have tryed out everything with the senors and the sim.cfg but the results are not good enough.

If you shoot an normal steamtorpedo to an cruiser every time he speed up cause he saw the torpedo.

DD´s in the Searchmodus will only speed up from 12 to 13 knots and thats not enough for lefting the torpedos course.

DD´s wich run in the normal mode move away just like every Cruiser, only in the Searchmodus they are stupid like Paris Hilton......:damn:

So my question is did anyone know an way to fix this , maybe by hexediting ore something else ?

My bet is that they only go up to 13 knots because at that speed they stop listening with hydrophones and ASDIC due to the noise generated :hmmm: Somehow it seems that there is an AI command that forces them to stay at slower speed so they don't lose the contact, and that command has preference over others when in search mode.

If I'm correct, then raising the speed at which the sonar washes out should allow destroyers to speed up to the new maximum you set

In any case, are you playing with auto targeting? I find it quite difficult to hit a 12 knots zig zagging destroyer, specially with the US interface/TDC

Hi Hitman,

thanks for this informations.

I play for testing with autotargeting but not in a carreer ore in AOTD´s onlinecampaign.
It´s not so hard to knock them out in 100% realsettings an manual targeting.
You have to bring your boat in the right position and then you make a solution to zero degrees.
With the spreedangle you can choose the right way of the torpedocurse.
The only problem is findig out the right moment of firing but with enough testing it is very easy.

"If I'm correct, then raising the speed at which the sonar washes out should allow destroyers to speed up to the new maximum you set"

So where can i do this, in which file are these settings ?

I've got this book on the Allies ASW, where the escort had to do 8 knots or less, to be able to use asdic or hydrophone.. This was in rough seas, so I'd imagine 10-13 knots is the right ball park for calm seas
