View Full Version : Can't get External View back in TMO, even after modifying .cfg file
Hi Guys, so I just recently installed UBM and TMO and followed the instructions on how to modify the command.cfg file to get the external camera view back, as well as opting for the "Easy" settings for the campaign, but still no luck in getting tht view back.....
[Cmd50]
Name=Camera_on_next_unit
Ctxt=1
Key0=0xBE,,">"
Page=0x34000000,3714
[Cmd51]
Name=Camera_on_prev_unit
Ctxt=1
Key0=0xBC,,"<"
Page=0x34000000,3714
Has anyone else run into this??
thanks!

Hi Qrex welcome aboard.
You have to disable all the mods then re-enable them to get it to work.
Tried the changes myself with TMO activated didnt work took it out put it back in and now no problems :DL
Same here. I had to uninstall TMO 1.9 (using JSGME), make those changes in the Command files, then reinstall it. Works fine now. Make sure you have 'No External View' unchecked in both the start up Options menu in the game and the Options menu in 'office'.

You know, i think this is the single most asked question. :O:
Sometime though, maybe not today, or tomorrow, but someday.. try playing without the unit camera. There's a big difference between the Free cam and the unit cam. It's the unit cam that takes a lot of the uncertainty out of the game, which in the long run, i feel, makes the game dull by removing the fog of war. I do have to admit, it took me awhile to let go of that particular camera, but having done so awhile ago, i can't imagine having it on in a "real" career game.
Letting go of the external camera altogether (free cam), is even harder, and while i've done so occasionally, i can't force myself to keep that particular camera off with any regularity. :88) (guess im not as hardcore as i should be. :shifty: )
AAaaaargh,those were good suggestions, but none of them worked. I even completely uninstalled the game and all the patches & mods. Odd though, when I reinstalled everything, those semi-colons were still absent from the command.cfg file... :damn:
I've tried remapping other key commands to the next unit camera view, but that did not work either.... Maybe it's something to do with Windows 7?

You could just Backup the TMO Camera.dat and command.cfg and copy the Camera.dat and command.cfg from a stock install into your TMO install. You will lose TMO's custom settings but it will return you to the stock cameras and then if you want you can use Silent 3ditor to mod the cameras however you like.
TMO is beyond awesome, but the Enemy is a little to good for my tastes so I have a Install that has most of TMOs new graphics,Interiors,New Subs and Ships and leaves the stock subs and ships and campaigns alone. I love to tweak games so i'm using this install to learn how to mod the game and its actually alot of fun to play.
But whatever you do, make sure to backup anything you change,especially if you make changes manually without the mod enabler!

This is just a thought but are you changing the data file in the TMO mod in your mod folder rather then the base install?
I have Windows 7 and thought that's what caused my problem, but I was able to get it working. Another long shot--what about the SH4 folder in Documents? Does that need to be tweaked? I never had to look at it.

As Ducimus said, just learn to play without it, really adds to the game, the fog of war so to speak.
