This makes me absolutely sick! Where is the country I love and grew up in?
Rambo is in the woods crying.
Sad day when whackos take over.
Why is everything I write underlined?

Really?
Dereliction of duty , making a false statement and impeding a military inquiry are suddenly issues of PC?
And there was me thinking they were very standard under military law.

This is sick.
Waging wars? Yes. But no blood, no sweat, no dirt and no violence please. Wage war like I just charmingly wave my hand in an elegant gesture. Make it look easy, simple, clean, civilised and distinguished and as if nothing has happened. Make iut looks like a children's play. Make it running like a righteous heroe's parade under a blue sky and shining sun.
No, this is not just sick. This is perverse.

It has nothing to do with waging war without vioence, it is about treatment of prisoners after they have been detained and people lying to cover up their alledged crimes.

Its almost as if someone is trying to undermine everything the US does.

I would agree if their fingers were cut off or something, but a few punches? :nope:

I doubt very much that the rational of these charges stemmed from the punch. Making false statements and interfering of an investigation is a serious offense.
Before getting all spun up about this, why don't we let the military system handle this?

You should know from hundreds of examples across the political, military and civil spectrum that attempts at cover ups often bring more trouble than the alledged crime itself.
So in this case it could have been.....
Hitting a prisoner, oh dear naughty boy have a slap on the wrist and don't do it again.
Whereas what it is now
Lying to your superiors and then messing with an inquiry, silly buggers showing contempt for the chain of command and the military justice system and foolishly trying to screw them over by playing them as mugs.

They should have taken the Captains Mast instead of the Courts Martial!
Captains Mast is an administrative hearing ,with limited powers, by the unit Commander - If it works the same way as a Defaulters Parade in the Australian Army ,(I'm pretty sure it it does) ,then they would have copped something like a Fine, stoppage of pay for a time or being confined to Barracks for a period of time,(This is'nt as easy as it sounds - if your not working or using the Mess for meals then you have to be in your barracks only!),worse case is you may do 1-2 weeks confinement in a Military prison!.It also gets recorded in your files and can count against you for promotion etc.
By going the Courts Martial route , then these guys are looking at serious jail time and being booted at the end of it!

If you read the article they requested trial by court martial. These guys know whats going on and what the stakes are. You don't request a trail by court martial if you know you are guilty.

Maybe it's time to start putting the corrupt politicians, who sell out their countries on trial, and leave the diversionary pawns alone.

I would agree if their fingers were cut off or something, but a few punches? :nope:I tend to agree, but...
...I don't think its wise to set a precedent that even a "few punches" are okay. While I can empathize if that's what they did (and by God, I probably would have done the same), these individuals DID have the option for what amounts to a strong reprimand or a court martial.
I would like to know all the facts before I render judgement. It's one thing to say that civilian policy-makers are going over the edge regarding political correctness in the service. It's another thing to flaw UNIFORMED SERVICEMEN for the SAME THING merely because it's regarding OTHER uniformed servicemen.

So what.

Its just the same as opting to go to a higher court and gambling against the harsher punishment, it doesn't indicate guilt or innocence at all.

Hey hey Im pretty left wing and all - but I agree that is really insane, how can you charge Navy Seals with assault? Its their bloody job to for crying out loud! :haha:
Maybe they should send them in to missions armed with cake and flowers if they dont want them to 'assault'?
Next we will start locking up doctors for prescribing drugs ffs.
