Subron 50


Subron 50 is a semi-historical re-creation of operations by 6 Gato Class Submarines in the Atlantic from Sept 42 to July 43. Now if I was to be 100% historical accurate in the creation of this mod, it would be “very boring”, as in real life Subron 50 did not see that much action. Therefore I’ve have taken some “historic license” with Subron 50’s operations, first the operations dates for your boat, are from Sept 20th 1942 to November 1st 1943 (extra 3 months more than real life). Second, after missions in support of Operation Torch, you will be assigned to convoy interdiction and anti-blockaded runner operations in the Bay of Biscay. In real life the boats did conduct anti-blockaded runner ops in the Bay of Biscay along the north coast of Spain and the extreme southwest coast of France, however they only saw very limited action. During the “Bay of Biscay” phase you will be required to conduct some “very challenging” shallow water operations against German / Vichy French convoy operations and historical anti-blockade runner ops along the north coast of Spain. As for the Blockade Runners, they normally would not fly the German flag, but in Subron 50 they will for easy ID. Third, later in your career, the boat will be assigned anti-shipping operations along the Norwegian coast. In real life they were deployed between Iceland and Norway to prevent German Naval units from exiting into the North Atlantic, but again as with their earlier Bay of Biscay ops, saw no action and were withdrawn to the US in July 43. As with the Subron 50 ops in the Bay of Biscay, you will be required to conduct “shallow water” operations against German convoys.

This Mod requires “Operation Monsun” version 720
This Mod is “NOT” compatible with RFB, TMO, FOTRS or any other PTO mod
This Mod “Completely” over writes all “Campaign files” that relate to PTO operations and disables all US subs except for the Gato Class.
It is “strongly” recommend that you set up a “separate” version of SH4 v15 to run OM / OMEGU / Subron 50.

I have DLed this onto a fresh install of SH4 v1.5. However, the voices are in German in both the American and German Campaines. ?

I find myself very curious as to how the game play is turning out for this mod. My guess is not being able to sail right into Lorient would be a little wierd. :)

Believe me, it's definitely worth a try - I especially like the shallow water missions close to the French west coast, you really have to be careful to not get detected.

1) I'm getting no tilting anchor on my home port with subron 50, the german campaign (OM) still has them - is this correct??

2) is there a key/button for a weather report?? as i can't find it for looking, although i must admit the suprise of not knowing wht the weather like b4 going to the bridge is kinda fun!

I can't find the sounds files in OM/stock to copy over, any ideas where they may/how to fix this?

Well after I got to Scotland I got orders to go along the French cost
Looking for Vichy French or German ships I went and had a look
Around but did not find any so just for fun I went to periscope depth
And went in to Lorient when I got there it was being bombed by allied
Planes and I sunk 4 French merchant ships and 3 Germen
War ships well with all the sub pens in there I had to come up and try and
Use my gun and shoot the hell out of them I got shot to hell and was sunk
But it was great fun only one thing wrong there were no u boats in there for me
To sink :yeah:

For those interested in role playing this mod, throughout WW2 Spain claimed territorial waters extending 6 nautical miles from its shoreline. As the Allies tended to avoid awkward political confrontations over blockade runners, players may want to consider any enemy merchant vessels within this distance of Spain as being off limits.
