Hi,

I've just installed GWX3 and SH3 commander and I can see there is some changes to the nav-map. The icons are now grey (which is fine), but the "tail" giving you the direction is also gone.
How can I get the tail back?

And what about the gods eye thing? It seemed like I got a lot of different reports of traffic on SH3, but with GWX3 its a lot less of it. Is that correct?

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I've searched and looked in the manual but cant find anything about it.

Thanks guys!

There are a few mods at Subsim downloads. Try a search on TAILS - NAV. They are there somewhere.

I downloaded the GWX-Contact_Color mod and ran the program. Once I was back into SH3 and opened the map, all the map tools worked but one: The Ruler Tool.

This is what was happening: If I clicked on the tool, the "pencil" icon would appear and once I clicked on the map to make a line, the line would be 2 inches below the pencil icon...or below the screen. I didn't back up the "Data" folder, which I should have, so I ended up re-loading everything, so now I am back where I was before with GWX3, SH Commader and JSGME. Everything works except no tails of the contacts. I really shouldn't whine about it since I really need to hone in on using the hydrophone, however, with the tails working I can use the practice on interception calculations.

Anyway....that's my story....:hmmm:

If your installation is GWX3.0 with Commander and JSGME (comes as part of GWX3.0 automatically)....simply enable the contact colour mod using JSGME and everything should work fine.

I see no one answered your question about reduced contacts with GWX. That is correct....GWX does not "give" you near as many contacts as Stock SH3 because it was unrealistic. You will be forced to find where the heavy traffic lanes are and use your hydrophones more often.

When I am in a known traffic lane I will submerge every hour or so and do a hydrophone sweep. You will be surprised how often you hear a merchant that your watch wont see.

Also if you enable the 16km mod your watch will spot many more merchants than with out it.

S! and good luck...welcome to the forums and the addiction of GWX ;)

Not to pop your balloon or anything, but if you want realism, the real U-Boats would never dive every hour for a hydrophone check. Not even at night, although I'm not sure why... maybe too much wear and tear on the boat? :hmmm:
